Inside the Role
As an Advanced Engineering team member, the successful candidate will be responsible for the design, development and validation of advanced driver assistance technologies in the proof-of-concept phase. Leveraging cutting-edge algorithms in control systems, motion planning, sensor fusion, and machine learning, the candidate will contribute to enhancing the capabilities of current and future new Level 2+ features to be deployed in best-in-class commercial vehicles.Posting Information

Position offers a starting salary range of $86,000 - $110,000 USD
Pay offered dependent on knowledge, skills, and experience

What You Drive at DTNA:
- Provide creative and technically feasible solutions for the newly proposed Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) technologies in the advanced engineering phase.
- Develop algorithms for Level 2+ for our flagship Cascadia product - including adapting algorithms developed by other departments for truck-specific purposes.
- Take an active technical leadership role in one or more of the following domains: environmental perception (cameras, lidar, radar), sensor fusion, situation assessment, behavior generation, maneuver planning and execution.
- Stay up to date regarding latest control algorithms and ADAS technologies.
- Develop engineering requirements and write documentation.
- Manage assignments concurrently and prioritize them in a manner consistent with business goals using available planning tools.
- Collaborate with other teams in the Daimler Truck around the globe and transfer knowledge gained on advanced technologies.
- Stay informed on emerging technologies in ADAS, autonomous driving, and control algorithms for various L2+ maneuvers.
Knowledge You Should Bring:
- Bachelors degree in Control Engineering, Robotics, Embedded Systems, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field and prefer 2+ years of relevant experience.
- Proven work experience with algorithm design and software development is required.
- Strong skills in software development and architecture, with advanced programming experience in C/C++, MATLAB/Simulink, and Python are required.
- Ability to independently manage all phases of software development including compile & build, version management, bug tracking, simulation, testing, validation, and documentation is required.
- Excellent engineering analysis and analytical ability are required.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills are required.
Exceptional Candidates Might Have:
- Master's degree in Control Engineering, Robotics, Embedded Systems, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field preferred.
- Proven work experience with controls engineering, controlled vehicles or robotics is preferred.
- Hands-on experience in the field of environment perception (camera, Lidar, Radar, GPS) and sensor fusion is preferred.
- Experience or quick learning on addressing real-world controls challenges, including sensor noise, system latencies, and state estimation uncertainty is preferred.
- Experience with real-time programming of embedded platforms, automotive ECUs, automotive Ethernet/CAN controllers is preferred.
- Experience with Functional Safety methodologies per ISO26262 is preferred.
- Ability to work and collaborate with remote locations over different time zones is preferred.
