Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., Java).
  • 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.
  • Experience with Android development.
  • Experience with performance optimization.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field.
  • 3 years of experience shipping embedded software products.
  • Experience with performance and memory optimization.
  • Experience developing Linux, Android, or embedded systems.
  • Experience with TPU, GPU, and on-device ML models.
  • Experience with SQL and data pipelines.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $166,000-$244,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Lead cross-team initiatives to define, measure, optimize, and monitor key performance indicators in Pixel Camera's Android application code.
  • Collaborate with Camera feature and on-device ML teams to ensure features are optimized for speed, memory, and thermals.
  • Develop and utilize telemetry data infrastructure to offer leadership insights crucial for verifiable high performance, reliability, and system health.
  • Provide insights from advanced profiling tools to prioritize and validate improvements.
