Technical Project Analyst, Entry-Level

We protect our environment, secure our clean energy future, serve our national defense and reduce emerging nuclear threats.The SRNL Environmental and Legacy Management Directorate is seeking a meticulous and experienced Data Analyst to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in evaluating project schedules, resource allocation, and skill competencies, as well as experience in evaluating R&D and experimental data.
This role is critical in ensuring our projects are efficiently managed and our teams are effectively utilized.
This position will work closely with a multi-disciplinary team of PIs, project management, and financial analysts and other stakeholders to design, implement, and optimize data analysis processes, enabling us to gain deeper insights and drive better decision-making in our project and business management as well as our experimental data. Specifically, the candidate will have responsibilities to develop approaches and systems which:
- Integrate project schedules, cost systems and competencies to analyze and identify potential conflicts, inefficiencies, and areas for improvement.
- Evaluate resource allocation to ensure optimal utilization across various projects.
- Assess team skill competencies and identify gaps or areas requiring training and development.
- Recommend strategies to improve project timelines, resource management, and team competency.
- Collect, process, and analyze large volumes of experimental data using AI and machine learning techniques.
Successful candidates will have the ability to:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including R&D Scientists, project and financial management, and line management to understand data needs and deliver actionable insights
- Develop and maintain dashboards and reports to monitor project progress, resource usage, and skill development.
- Utilize statistical methods and data analysis tools to extract meaningful insights from complex datasets.
- Continuously refine data collection and analysis processes to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
- Develop and implement data models, algorithms, and statistical techniques to identify patterns and insights.
- Present findings and insights through detailed reports, visualizations, and presentations to management and stakeholders.
- Continuously improve data analysis processes and contribute to the development of data standards and best practices.
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in AI, machine learning, and data analytics.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Business Analytics, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering or a related field. A Master’s degree is a plus.
- Proven experience as a Data Analyst, preferably with a focus on project management, resource allocation, or skills assessment.
- Experience working in a scientific research and development environment.
- Proficiency in data analysis tools and software such as Python, R, Excel, SQL, and BI tools like Tableau or Power BI.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to present complex data in a clear and concise manner.
- Experience working with project management tools (e.g., Primavera, Microsoft Project) is preferred.
- Knowledge of cloud platforms (Oracle, Google Cloud, Azure) and their data services.
- Expertise in using AI and machine learning for data analysis.
- Attention to detail and ability to work independently as well as within a team.
- Strong statistical and mathematical skills.
- Experience with experimental design and data collection.
