The Department of Computer Science is a dynamic and expanding unit within the Faculty of Mathematics and Science. We're a thriving academic community dedicated to fostering innovation, critical thinking, and preparing students for impactful careers in a rapidly evolving technological landscape. We support over 800 undergraduate students, and more than 45 graduate students across our Master's and Ph.D. programs. Our prominent programs include a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Computer Science, with concentrations in Artificial Intelligence and Software Engineering. At the graduate level, we offer a Master of Science in Computer Science, and a Ph.D. in Intelligent Systems and Data Science in collaboration with the Department of Mathematics and Statistics. We also play a key role in the interdisciplinary undergraduate BSc in Data Science and Analytics, a joint effort with the Department of Mathematics and Statistics and the Goodman School of Business. In addition, we offer joint BA Game Design/BSc Game Programming with the Department of Digital Humanities. Our faculty, including a Canada Research Chair, are at the forefront of their fields, engaging in cutting-edge research across diverse areas of computer science. About the Position
The Faculty of Mathematics and Science at Brock University is inviting applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position, commencing July 1, 2026. The Department of Computer Science is strategically expanding its expertise in Artificial Intelligence (AI), and we are eager to welcome a new colleague with a strong passion for both research and teaching within this dynamic field.
Qualifications
We are seeking candidates for the Department of Computer Science who hold a Ph.D. in Computer Science or will have completed one by December 2025. Exceptional candidates with Ph.D. degrees in closely related domains may also be considered. The ideal candidate will possess outstanding academic credentials and a demonstrated ability to conduct independent, world-class research in AI. We have a particular interest in candidates specializing in Natural Language Processing (NLP), including Large Language Models (LLMs), and deep learning methods. A strong potential to attract external funding is also essential. Beyond research, a clear and enthusiastic commitment to both undergraduate and graduate education in both AI and fundamental computer science is a core requirement for this role. As well, service contribution at the department and university level is part of this position, although tenure-track faculty are provided with a lighter service load.
