This is a non-union positionThe Sr Advisor Risk performs sophisticated transactional modeling, valuation, and user acceptance testing in the corporate risk management system and provides fulsome support to commercial teams with respect to Risk Policy and Procedures (Policy) compliance and accounting treatment. They will proactively interact with other functional teams in the transaction process while leading and performing daily risk reporting deliverables.

What You Will Do:
Daily accountability for risk management analysis for gas utility activities, monitoring, & reporting for a segment of North American commodity (natural gas focused) commercial activities including Value-At-Risk (VaR), open positions, valuation controls, MTM valuation, and daily management explanations.
Project work including risk system cutover, Power BI reporting tool development, process automation & data visualizations of risk metrics. Perform user acceptance testing for gas utility transactions.
Ensure VaR model accuracy and work cross functionally to accurately capture and quantify market risk.
Produce ongoing risk analytics and reporting to multiple levels of management, including non-compliance reporting.
Demonstrate expertise in producing and effectively communicating quantitative risk management technical concepts in speaking and visualized reporting.
Provide informal leadership to other team members and across functional groups
Perform Openlink risk system superuser role for deal modelling, valuation and related risk system activities (troubleshooting, testing, process improvement).
Identify system enhancement requirements, review valuation, enhance &/or develop deal modelling processes & data flows from front to back to ensure accuracy and integrity.
Evaluate new business strategies & ensure all material market risk is identified, captured & quantified.
Perform the Risk (economic) to Accounting (results) monthly reconciliation process, identify process improvements, & communicate material variances.
Provide informal leadership to other team members and across functional groups
Effectively handle backup responsibilities for crude oil, RNG (biogas) and power risk related activities.
Who You Are:
Required:
Undergraduate degree in economics, finance, or applied sciences.
6+ years of in-depth experience in natural gas, power &/or crude oil markets in risk management
Openlink/Endur or similar ETRM experience (5+ yrs) and
Experienced in performing risk control processes, including the development, monitoring, & enforcing of market risk limits, daily risk reporting of commodity MTM, VaR and positions.
Quantitative background with a strong understanding of VaR, probabilities & statistics with the ability to perform scenario stress testing & analysis, back testing of strategies & trading portfolio decomposition of risk.
Excellent written & oral communication skills; ability to explain financial models in operational terms.
Demonstrate commercial and transactional acumen in resolving issues and when communicating across functional groups
Strong interpersonal skills & the ability to work effectively with others.
Thrives in a dynamic, collaborative working team environment involving daily tasks, project work & new product development.
Experience in the design of risk metrics & controls to manage cash month price risks.
Experience reviewing large pricing data history, creating, & identifying value added visualizations/insights for decision makers.
Technical experience troubleshooting transactions in Openlink/Endur or similar energy trading & risk management systems (ETRM) across the transaction life cycle.
Preferred:
CFA, MBA, CA, or other related designation is an asset. Risk Management designations in ERP or FRM are also an asset.
Experience with ETRM user acceptance testing and cut over activities.
Intermediate coding experience in Python, SQL, & Business Intelligence apps (Power BI is preferred).
Experience with physical & financial options.
Experience with workflows and document management in SharePoint.

Physical Requirements (Include but are not limited to):
Grasping, kneeling, light – moderate lifting (objects up to 20 pounds), reaching above shoulder, repetitive motion, typing, sitting, standing, visual requirement (able to see screens, detect color coding, read fine print), hearing requirement and the ability to sit at a computer for long periods of time.
