Position Overview
The Manager of Data and Compliance will support the Maya Angelou Schools in collecting, validating, and organizing student and operational data to ensure accuracy, accountability, and compliance with local and federal requirements. Working under the supervision of the Director of Data and Compliance, this position plays a key role in maintaining the systems and processes that allow the school network to make data-informed decisions and meet reporting obligations.
This position serves three LEAs and a total of 5 schools, including 3 secure facilities (DC Department of Corrections, DYRS Youth Services Center, and DYRS New Beginnings). The position will require in-person time at each of our sites. The ideal candidate is comfortable working in secure facility environments and is committed to supporting opportunity youth in non-traditional educational settings. Flexibility, professionalism, and a trauma-informed mindset are essential for success in this role.
Requirements
Responsibilities
Specific responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
- Assist with the collection and validation of school data for reporting to local, state, and federal agencies.
- Support the implementation of procedures outlined in school data playbooks and reporting calendars, ensuring that data is submitted in a timely and accurate manner.
- Conduct routine reviews of student and school data to identify discrepancies and ensure data integrity.
- Assist with the preparation of reports and datasets required by external agencies, under the guidance of the Director of Data and Compliance.
- Coordinate the logistics and data tracking for standardized assessments in collaboration with School Test Coordinators.
- Provide basic support and troubleshooting for school staff on data systems and compliance tools.
- Participate in training sessions led by the Director and support follow-up with school-based staff to ensure proper understanding of data procedures and regulatory requirements.
- Help maintain user access and documentation for internal and external data systems, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
- Document and escalate any areas of concern regarding data quality, compliance, or procedural adherence to the Director of Data and Compliance.
- Prepare, coordinate, and submit data for grant reports, as needed.
- Support multiple school sites and travel on-site to deliver technical assistance, support, and training when needed
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the team and broader school accountability efforts.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in policy or quantitative discipline or related field (required). A master’s Degree or additional certification is highly desirable.
- Four or more years of experience in the education sector or nonprofit management, particularly in the areas of compliance, accountability, or policy.
- Experience partnering with the Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE) and DC Public Charter School Board (DC PCSB)
- Experience conducting impact analysis and evaluating accountability measures.
- Exhibit a high level of technical skills with experience using multiple software programs (Microsoft Office, Google Suite, Cloud-based databases, etc.). Experience with educational software (PowerSchool), case management software (Efforts to Outcomes), business intelligence software (PowerBi), and statistical packages
- Display communication skills, oral and written, that are engaging and effective with a variety of stakeholders (parents, students, community representatives, teachers, etc.) and in a variety of contexts (one-on-one, large group, video conferencing, etc.)
- Experience working in a high-demand environment, managing multiple projects with deadlines simultaneously, and producing expected results for each project
- Experience producing and facilitating professional development and training for staff
Salary and Benefits
Maya Angelou Schools and See Forever Foundation salaries are comparable to those of other public charter schools in the District of Columbia area. Salary Range
$70,000.00 - $85,000.00
