The Insights & Solutions team provides critical analysis through five functional groups within US Retail Markets:• Distribution, Marketing & Experience Insights & Solutions• Data Office• Claims & Service, Insights & Solutions• Knowledge & Development Solutions• Data Science

The US Retail Markets Data Science (USDS) team brings together a diverse range of talent to predict future risk and what our customers will need to recover. Our data engineers write code that turns trillions of bits of information into structured data—data that our hundred-plus Data Scientists analyze with cutting-edge modeling techniques to unlock insights. From there, our tools and deployment teams ensure this data can be practically applied to business problems across US Retail Markets. The Territory Modeling team in Complex Components is looking to hire a Data Scientist to help drive our mission of building best-in-class geographic risk segmentation models! Specifically, you'll conduct analyses & support modeling efforts on our internal & external geographic data using both traditional actuarial and cutting-edge data science techniques.

Here's just some of the things you'll accomplish in this role:

• Execute analyses to support the building, implementation, updating of our world-class territory factors.
• Build geographic risk segmentation models that create a competitive advantage for Liberty Mutual's US Retail Market, particularly Personal Lines Property & Specialty.
• Establish frameworks & processes for efficiently delivering territory modeling results to key stakeholders in Product, leading to better & faster impact on the business.
• Positively impact the Data Science community at Liberty through volunteer committee engagements.
• Build data & data science software using best-in-class MLOps practices & tools.

Here's some experience & skills we prefer you have:

• Actuarial experience conducting analysis on insurance data, such as premium on-leveling, loss trending, loss development, etc. is highly preferred. 
• Using SQL for wrangling structured data & curating analysis-ready data.
• Using Python for analyzing data, creating data visualizations, & conducting statistical analysis/modeling.
• Creating, testing, and deploying Generalized Linear Models (GLMs) used for predictive purposes, such as insurance pricing.
• Some experience/skills working with geographic data & GIS/spatial data science methods is great but not required.

Qualifications

• Solid knowledge of predictive analytics techniques and statistical diagnostics of models.
• Advance knowledge of predictive toolset; expert resource for tool development.
• Demonstrated ability to exchange ideas and convey complex information clearly and concisely.
• Has a value-driven perspective with regard to understanding of work context and impact.
• Competencies typically acquired through 0-1 yrs. of related experience with a Ph.D., a minimum of 2-3 yrs. of experience with a master’s degree, a minimum of 4+ yrs. of experience with a bachelor’s degree.
