Zurich (Schaumburg, IL) seeks a Data Scientist to solve business challenges using advanced analytics and work with team members to deliver solutions. Specific duties include: collaborating with business stakeholders to understand their challenges and structuring an advanced analytical solution to solve it (10%); identifying key internal/external, structured/unstructured data sources to define the optimal data set for testing the hypotheses and partnering with others to connect these data sources to build the data set (10%); preparing internal/external, structured/unstructured data sets to build/rebuild/refresh predictive models (10%); leading effort to design, development and validation of models (20%); working closely with stakeholders, contribute to the development of a strategy on how to use the model to generate the desired impact (10%); working closely with stakeholders after deployment, support the project to ensure that impact is achieved (5%); supporting the monitoring of model accuracy and working with stakeholders to ensure the model is used appropriately and generates the desired impact (10%); contributing to the development of improvements to analytic techniques to solve business challenges (5%); supporting IT implementation and system integration of models (5%); leading development of best practices and improvements to analytic techniques to solve business challenges (5%); and building collaborative relationships across the organization (10%). May work remotely 60% of the time.

 

Position requires a Master’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Engineering, Engineering Science, Analytics, or a closely related field of study, plus 3 years of experience in the job offered, or as an Associate Data Scientist, or similar position solving business challenges using advanced analytics. Must have 3 years of experience using data science tools and libraries including Python, Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn, TensorFlow/PyTorch, and Hugging Face. Must also have 2 years of experience with each of the following: working with ML algorithms including regression, classification, clustering, and decision trees; working with NLP tasks including document classification, entity extraction, and summarization in an insurance industry setting; and working with cloud platforms and AI deployment, such as Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud. Must have 1 year of experience communicating with business unit stakeholders and cross-functional teams. Additionally, specific experience must include: involving statistical modeling and advanced machine learning concepts; and deploying models or data science solutions into production to make a business impact. May work remotely 60% of the time.
