Job Description
The Compliance Analyst role will support trade surveillance, regulatory filing, response to regulatory inquiries, and internal investigations through data analysis, systems development, and research. The role will mix ongoing responsibilities for monitoring, tracking, and filing with ad hoc, sometimes urgent, requests and projects. In addition to learning about regulatory requirements, the role provides an opportunity for learning about trading and investing across all of Vitol’s activities.
Job duties include:
- Trade surveillance and analysis
- Maintenance and development of analytical tools to enable and enhance oversight of trading activities and regulatory requirements
- Researching regulatory requirements and developments
- Regulatory reporting and report automation and oversight (preparation, submission, automation and augmentation)
- Documenting processes and identifying process improvements
- Assisting with Know Your Customer and Sanctions processes
- Supporting Compliance and Legal with ad hoc queries and supporting documentation in response to regulatory inquiries and litigation
- Promoting a culture of compliance and high ethical standards
Qualifications
Desired Experience and Skills
- Bachelor’s Degree in a field requiring programming and / or data analytics (e.g. Computer Science, Engineering, Finance, Economics, Political Science, Statistics) or relevant graduate degree
- Understanding of commodity markets and the trading life cycle
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Programming ability in Python, R, or other languages are a plus. Growth in programmatic development capabilities is expected over time
- Strong critical reading and independent research capability
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Detail oriented and inquisitive
