Software Engineer, Growth Products

The Growth Team at Lyft focuses on acquiring and resurrecting riders and drivers efficiently to grow the business and balance the marketplace. We handle critical infrastructure to execute, manage, and optimize growth campaigns for the entire company and move quickly to test and develop new products. 

As a Software Engineer on the Growth Team, you will be developing our core systems for managing growth initiatives, including rider and driver incentives, marketing automation, and budget allocation. You will collaborate cross-functionally with product, data science, analytics, and marketing on code that empowers us to iterate quickly while also delivering an excellent experience to our passengers and drivers.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, deploy, monitor, operate, and maintain existing or new elements of our systems and infrastructure
• Write well-crafted, well-tested, readable, maintainable code
• Participate in code reviews to ensure code quality and distribute knowledge
• Help define the roadmap and architecture based on technology and business needs
• Participate in our team's on-call rotations, respond to incidents, and support other teams to mitigate customer-impacting events
• Incorporate considerations for business context and failure modes in your work
• Have a good grasp and ability to explain the various tradeoffs made in decisions
• Unblock, support, effectively communicate, and obtain buy-in across teams to achieve results

Experience:

• 3+ years of software engineering/production infrastructure industry experience with a high level programming language (Python and/or Go are preferable)
• Experience defining API schemas and developing backend services in a microservices environment
• Experience designing, building and improving a set of team owned components
• Experience working with databases, relational or NoSQL
• Experience writing clear and scalable design documentation
• Experience working with public cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Microsoft Azure, etc.).
• Experience with growth engineering, marketing technology, or user engagement systems a plus

This role will be in-office on a hybrid schedule — Team Members will be expected to work in the office at least 3 days per week, including on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. The expected base pay range for this position in the Toronto area is CAD $108,000 - CAD $135,000. Salary ranges are dependent on a variety of factors, including qualifications, experience and geographic location. Range is not inclusive of potential equity offering, bonus or benefits.
