The Senior Director – Ophthalmology Advanced Analytics role is part of the Commercial Strategy Insights & Analytics (CSI&A) team. This role will serve as the analytics lead for the Ophthalmology Commercial Business Unit (CBU), reporting into the Executive Director, I&A (Ophthalmology CBU). This role will oversee ongoing reporting and analytics needs for current and pipeline ophthalmology brands and also manage a team of analytics/data science personnel to serve sales and marketing customers with advice and other decision support.

A typical day might include the following:  

  • Lead Ophthalmology analytics team in providing comprehensive business analytics and data science solutions for existing and pipeline ophthalmology products

  • Lead thinking, development and delivery of potential analytics approaches to deliver rich insights to solve business problems

  • Foster innovative solutions and a design-thinking approach for the Ophthalmology CBU and CSI&A team

  • Develop people from both a functional skills and leadership perspective, with the goal of growing internal talent

  • Assess and implement novel methodologies and frameworks to a) garner meaningful insights to inform business decisions; and b) enhance brand differentiation and impact throughout the product lifecycle 

  • Present analytics ideas, progress and results to business partners; simplify complex analytic approaches for stakeholders and make them actionable 

  • Conduct sub-national growth drivers analyses and working closely with market access and data science teams to build local resource allocation models and pull- through strategies

  • Support GPO reporting and trade analytics for Ophthalmology CBU to understand customer buying patterns and trends i.e., by quintiles, geography, brand market share, etc. 

  • In collaboration with data management and incentive compensation teams, support integrated business planning for sales teams 

This role may be for you if you:

  • Oversee development of patient flow models for new indications/formulations

  • Develop account-level influence mapping for salesforce / account management

  • Develop rich account-level insights using patient-level data sets (including segmentation and opportunity assessment)

  • Oversee delivery of next best action models and HCP 360 view for field-force and reimbursement management

  • Support development of omnichannel marketing approaches and build measurement plans to maximize customer engagement

  • Perform digital and DTC reporting / analytics for consumer campaigns

  • Collaborate with internal teams and vendors to coordinate cross-functional analyses and data acquisition

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, security, and privacy requirements as it relates to data assets

To be considered for this opportunity, you must have a Master's degree completed by start date and 12+ years of business analytics, statistics, data mining, applied mathematics, engineering, computer science or related field experience OR Bachelor’s degree and 15+ years of business analytics, statistics, data mining, applied mathematics, engineering, computer science or related field experience. BS/BA is required. Advanced degree in a quantitative subject (e.g. statistics, econometrics, mathematics) preferred. 12+ years' progressive, related industry experience with a minimum 10 years analytical experience in pharmaceutical or biotechnology industries. Commercial business intelligence tool report creation experience required (any, but e.g.,PowerBI QlikView, Tableau, Oracle BI, Microstrategy, Cognos, Spotfire). Python or SAS code-writing skills (BASE, STAT, SQL, Macros) preferred, SQL query-writing required. In-depth knowledge and data mining experience using secondary subnational prescription and sales data required; experience with longitudinal patient, specialty pharmacy/ hub data strongly preferred; familiarity with frequently used pharma data sources like IQVIA, Symphony, etc. strongly preferred. Experience in resource optimization, commercial mix modeling or alignment, targeting, and call planning highly preferred. Advanced proficiency in Excel, and PowerPoint required
