As Data Engineer Intern you will build and maintain the data pipelines that power analytics and machine learning, ensuring reliable, scalable access to high-quality data in our Global Data Foundation platform.
By transforming raw data into structured insights, they enable smarter business decisions and accelerate innovation.
Below a list focusing on the most impactful responsibilities:
- Build and maintain scalable data pipelines and integrations to ensure timely and reliable data availability for analytics and reporting.
- Transform and clean raw data from multiple sources into structured formats to support business intelligence and machine learning use cases.
- Monitor and optimize data workflows and storage solutions to improve performance, reduce costs, and ensure data quality.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., Data Scientists, Analysts, Product Owners) to understand data needs and deliver actionable solutions.
- Document and maintain data architecture, processes, and best practices to support team knowledge sharing and onboarding.
- Support other initiatives and projects as part of the Global Data Engineering team, contributing to innovation and continuous improvement efforts.
What you Bring
What will make a candidate successful?
- Demonstrates strong proficiency in SQL and Python for data manipulation, transformation, and automation.
- Understands data architecture principles and is familiar with cloud platforms (Azure) and data platforms Databricks. With modern data frameworks like Spark, Databricks, dbt.
- Communicates effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders to align on data requirements and deliverables.
- Shows attention to detail in ensuring data accuracy, consistency, and documentation.
- Learns quickly and adapts to evolving technologies and project priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Collaborates proactively within cross-functional teams to support data-driven decision-making.
Competences Required:
- Data modeling intuition: understands how to structure data for performance, scalability, and usability, not just storage.
- Pipeline reliability mindset: builds with monitoring, testing, and failure recovery in mind, ensuring robust data flows.
- Code quality discipline: writes clean, modular, and well-documented code that others can easily understand and build upon.
- Curiosity-driven problem solving: proactively explores data issues and business questions, going beyond assigned tasks.
A master degree in STEM disciplines is required a pre-requisite given the nature of the role.
We are looking for someone who has demonstrated:
- The ability to understand the data flow in the VF business processes.
- The capability to troubleshoot complex data issues and propose a feasible solution.
- An understanding of modern data architecture, cloud computing, traditional AI and GenAI.
- An expertise in using SQL and Python like a master.
- A keen interest in exploring new technologies for data management and GenAI.
