Are you a self-driven, detail-oriented professional with a passion for data reliability and operational excellence? Do you thrive in a dynamic environment and enjoy ensuring the performance and stability of data platforms? If yes, then you might be our new colleague.
We are looking for a skilled Data Engineer to join our Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) team and play a pivotal role in supporting, monitoring, and maintaining our Data Platform. You will directly impact our data operations and ensure that our platform runs smoothly, securely, and efficiently. As part of our team, you will play a pivotal role in advancing our sustainability agenda. By leveraging the power of data, you will be part of directly impacting farmers and contributing to the creation of innovative, data-driven solutions that promote sustainable and digital dairy farming.
In our Agriculture, Sustainability, Communication (ASC) agile release train, we build the data integrations and platforms between our main systems inside our team, from other teams or with external data providers and consumers. We are on a bigger and exciting journey within our area, and you will find more like-minded people in our organization.
How you will make an impact
The SRE team is ensuring that the solutions built inside our department (Agriculture, Sustainability and Communication IT) by the development teams are reliable, scalable and efficient.
As a Data Engineer focused on the Data Platform reliability, you will work with complex systems and a variety of operational tasks. You will monitor performance, troubleshoot issues, and collaborate with stakeholders across the organization. You will also work closely with the other Data Engineers in the department both from the SRE team but also in the development teams, Support Specialists in the team, DevOps Engineers and Data Architects to ensure the platform meets performance and availability goals, to maintain the systems reliability and resilience.
Typical tasks include:
- Implement and maintain observability tools in Azure (ex. Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Application Insights) in order to monitor service level targets and proactively address performance and reliability issues.
- Respond to incidents, perform root cause analysis, and implement permanent fixes.
- Automate operational tasks such as log analysis, system checks, and performance tuning.
- Maintain operational documentation, runbooks, and incident response procedures.
- Conduct capacity planning and optimize resource utilization for cost efficiency.
- Ensure security and compliance through proactive monitoring and governance practices.
- Collaborate with development teams to ensure reliability and scalability of data solutions.
What will make you successful
To succeed in this role, we imagine that you:
- Have 3+ years of experience in one or multiple of the following roles, or similar positions: Data Engineer, Site Reliability Engineer, Data Operations/Support Engineer, DevOps Engineer etc.
- Have experience with CI/CD, IaC, and DevOps tools (e.g., Git, Terraform, Azure DevOps, PowerShell, etc.)
- Are proficient in SQL and Python for automation, web applications development and data manipulation.
- Have experience with Azure Cloud focused on Azure Monitoring, Databricks, ADF, Web Apps and SQL Database
- Have experience with monitoring and alerting tools and practices
- Understand the cloud-native data platform architectures (e.g., Data Lakehouse, Data Mesh).
We’re looking for a candidate with an operational mindset who can anticipate system needs and proactively address potential issues. Strong communication skills are essential - not just for clearly conveying technical concepts, but also for collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and non-technical audiences. The ideal candidate brings a structured approach to problem-solving, works independently, adapts well in fast-paced environments, and demonstrates a commitment to continuous learning and improvement.
