Solutions Engineer, Web/Mobile

Solutions Engineer

As a Solutions Engineer at Viam, you’ll help customers unlock the full potential of our platform. You’ll serve as a bridge between our customers and our internal engineering and product teams, ensuring a seamless, impactful experience with our technology.

This role is ideal for someone with a background in web or mobile development who enjoys working directly with clients to solve open-ended technical problems. Many of the projects you’ll own will start as prototypes or POCs—but they’re built to last and often evolve into customer-facing or internal production apps.

You’ll be:

• Assisting the go-to-market team with positioning our value and technical differentiators to prospects
• Working directly with customers to onboard them onto the Viam platform and help them succeed
• Designing and building frontend applications (mobile or web) that integrate with Viam-powered systems
• Leading technical prototyping efforts—developing working UIs, dashboards, or control panels that customers can build on top of
• Acting as a frontend/mobile SME—helping customers navigate our SDKs, app patterns, and integration best practices
• Partnering with product managers and designers to translate user needs into technical solutions
• Traveling occasionally (~25%) to support implementations, pilots, or workshops
• Collaborating with engineering to give feedback on product usability, edge cases, and developer experience

We’re looking for someone who:

• Has experience building web or mobile apps in a consulting, solutions engineering, or technical implementation role
• Is fluent in frontend frameworks like React, Next.js, Flutter, or similar
• Has shipped production-quality code in JavaScript/TypeScript, Dart, Python, or similar languages
• Understands how to build quick-turnaround prototypes that are structured enough to evolve into long-term tools
• Communicates clearly with both technical and non-technical audiences
• Thrives in fast-paced, ambiguous environments and can independently drive projects forward
• Has 2+ years of experience in a customer-facing technical role (e.g. solutions engineering, implementation, presales, or technical consulting)
• Holds a technical degree or has 4+ years of relevant hands-on experience

The starting salary for this role is between $150,000 - $220,000/year. Your exact offer will vary based on a number of factors including experience level, skillset, market location, and balancing internal equity relative to peers at the company. We recognize that the person we hire may be less experienced, or more senior, than this job description as posted. In these situations, the updated salary range will be communicated with you as a candidate.
