About the Site Reliability and DevOps Team

We’re here to ensure that code is build and deployed as fast as possible, while also ensuring that our live products are always available and responsive for our customers. We’re in the middle of a major shift to unify our backend infrastructure in Kubernetes, but currently have a mixed environment of classic virtual machines, Docker containers and k8s.

Technologies We're Using

We utilize a variety of technologies across our suite of products, and the technologies we’re using are constantly changing:

• Cloud providers: Azure and Amazon Web Services (AWS).
• For machine and application build and deployment: Jenkins, Octopus, Github Actions, TeamCity
• For monitoring and alerting: DataDog, Sentry.io, Pingdom and PagerDuty
• For log shipping and reporting: S3, Elasticsearch, Kibana and more.
• In addition to the above, we also use some other fun technologies: RabbitMQ, Redis, MongoDB, Kafka
  

We take a very pragmatic approach to infrastructure development: we use what makes sense for what we're trying to do. We're not dogmatic about anything. If we think we're currently using the wrong thing, and it makes sense to switch, we will.

What You'll Do

• You will improve our monitoring to ensure we have as close to 100 percent uptime as possible as well as alerting the team about problems before they become issues for our customers.
• You will work to centralize and improve logging and monitoring across all PayScale products
• You will work in a collaborative team environment with highly skilled specialists in many areas, including: data warehousing, web analytics, distributed systems, machine learning, search, and econometrics.
• You will maintain, improve and expand usage our internal products for: build, deploy, provisioning, logging, monitoring, alerting, disaster recovering, and more.
  

Qualifications
What You'll Need:

• You have strong DevOps background: builds, deployments, monitoring, testing.
• You are experienced with monitoring and alerting tools
• You have experience working with Kubernetes and Docker
• You have strong scripting-language skills (e.g. Python, PowerShell, Bash).
• You have 3+ years of professional site reliability engineer or DevOps engineer experience
• You have excellent problem solving and critical thinking skills.
• You have some familiarity with object-oriented programming (e.g. Java, C#).
• You have some familiarity with automated tests and Selenium
• You have working knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases (e.g. SQL Server, MySQL, Postgres, MongoDB, Redis).
• You have the ability to explain technical concepts to developers, project managers, and technical managers.
  

Compensation 

In the spirit of pay transparency, we are excited to share the monthly base salary range for this position is 27,708 RON gross - 34,633 RON gross, exclusive of fringe benefits or potential bonuses. If you are hired at Payscale, your final base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as skills, education, and/or experience. In addition to those factors – we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider any internal equity of our current team members as a part of any final offer. Please keep in mind that the range mentioned above is the full base salary range for the role. Hiring at the maximum of the range would not be typical in order to allow for future & continued salary growth. We also offer a generous compensation and benefits package (more information on benefits listed below).

Location

Payscale Romania has an employee centric hybrid model that provides you the flexibility to do your best work in a space that supports you, while also finding time to collaborate in person in our office for the moments that matter.
