Welcome to Brightline! We are searching for a Senior Data Engineer to play a key role in advancing Brightline’s business critical data platform. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining robust data pipelines and infrastructure that power analytics, reporting, and decision-making across the organization. As part of the Data team, you’ll collaborate closely with data analysts and business stakeholders to collect requirements and build trusted data models. You’ll also work with data and engineering leaders to implement efficiencies that deliver data fast and reliably, while minimizing consumption costs.
Responsibilities:
Data Platform Ownership
Own and maintain Brightline’s modern data platform, ensuring data integrity, scalability, and security across all systems.
Monitor and improve the performance of our Snowflake data warehouse, Stitch ingestion layer, dbt transformation layer, and Tableau analytics layer.
Build data pipelines / APIs to connect across data systems and enable new business capabilities.
Implement best practices in data engineering, including CI/CD workflows, data testing, and documentation. Foster a culture of best engineering practices with the rest of the data team.
Reduce un-needed complexity and implement solutions to minimize snowflake storage and consumption costs.
Unlock new data platform capabilities, and enable more powerful analytics across the business.
Advanced Data Modeling and Reporting
Design and implement scalable dbt models and ELT pipelines that serve analytics, reporting, and potential AI/ML use cases.
Partner with analysts and stakeholders to define and deliver trusted, business-ready data sets.
Implement best data materialization strategies that are fast and cost-effective.
Design Tableau dashboards, including for administrative management of the data platform.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Collaborate across technical and non-technical teams to deliver high-impact data solutions.
Translate business questions into engineering requirements and ensure data availability aligns with strategic needs.
Requirements:
5+ years of experience in data engineering or a similar role, with a strong track record of building and maintaining modern data infrastructure.
Experience supporting analytics across multiple business departments.
Data platform expert, knowledgeable of data engineering and security considerations.
Expert-level proficiency in SQL and data warehousing using Snowflake.
Deep experience with dbt for data modeling, testing, and documentation.
Deep experience with Tableau Server, ideally as an administrator.
Deep experience with version control (Github) and CI/CD practices.
Some experience with Python and APIs.
Ability to design efficient data systems that meet real-world business needs.
Comfortable working in ambiguous or evolving business contexts and providing data clarity.
Strong ability to communicate with both technical and business audiences.
Skilled at breaking down complex systems and communicating architecture, trade-offs, and outcomes.
Commitment to improving behavioral health care and supporting families in accessing affordable, high-quality care.
Nice to Have:
Experience with tools such as Segment, Amplitude, or Iterable
Marketing analytics and technology experience
An interest in front-end data analytics and dashboard development in Tableau
Familiarity with AI/ML engineering practices

Our strategy is based on robust market research, including external advisory specializing in national compensation, and thoughtful input from every level of our organization. It is a combination of a cash salary, equity, benefits, wellbeing, and opportunity. In compliance with the Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the annual base salary range for applicants is $140,000-$190,000.
