- Strong expertise in enterprise data architecture and data ingestion design, preferably in a cloud environment (e.g., GCP).
- Deep understanding of data engineering practices, ETL/ELT processes, and real-time data streaming.
- Proficiency in SQL, Python, with Scala being a plus.
- Solid knowledge of Apache Spark, Apache Kafka, and other big data technologies.
- Familiarity with data governance principles, metadata management, and data quality frameworks.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automation for data operations.
- Expertise in operational excellence including monitoring, alerting, and incident management for data pipelines.
- Ability to navigate complex international and multi-cultural environments, driving architectural consistency across countries.
General Requirements:
- Bachelorâs or Masterâs degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- At least 5 years of experience in data architecture, data engineering, or related roles.
- Experience in working within multinational or European-wide programs.
- Strong learning mindset to keep up with rapidly evolving data technologies and practices.
- Collaboration and cross-functional teamwork skills.
- Fluent English â excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Itâs a plus if you have experience with:
- Ceph storage system
- MinIO
- Apache Iceberg
- Trino
- Apache Flink
- DataRobot
- Grafana
- Telecommunications systems and data

Position overview:

The Data Architect is responsible for designing, governing, and continuously improving the data ingestion architecture across Deutsche Telekom Groupâs European footprint. The role ensures that data ingestion solutions are harmonized, scalable, secure, and efficient across multiple national companies (natcos) within the group.
In this position, you will lead the architectural design of data ingestion frameworks, define and enforce group-wide standards, and enable consistent monitoring, alerting, and operations across both cloud-native and legacy platforms. The Data Architect works closely with cross-functional teams to support data-driven transformation across Deutsche Telekom's international operations.
Tasks, Roles and Responsibilities:
- Define and govern the data ingestion architecture, ensuring standardized, reusable, and efficient solutions across multiple European national companies.
- Design, develop, and maintain reference architectures, blueprints, and standards for data ingestion pipelines.
- Provide guidance on the selection of technologies and tools to support ingestion processes, ensuring interoperability across platforms.
- Collaborate with data engineers and platform teams to ensure the robustness, security, and scalability of ingestion pipelines.
- Establish and oversee monitoring, alerting, and operational standards for ingestion pipelines across cloud and legacy infrastructures.
- Ensure compliance with data governance, data quality, and data security requirements, including adherence to GDPR and other regulatory frameworks.
- Support the integration of data from a variety of source systems including Kafka, MQ, SFTP, APIs, databases, and file shares.
- Engage with stakeholders across different countries to harmonize ingestion approaches and resolve architectural challenges.
- Continuously explore emerging technologies and trends to enhance data ingestion capabilities.
