Job Description

AECOM’s Is seeking a talented and driven Medior Data Scientist IIII to join our AI team. This role focuses on developing and deploying advanced solutions in Natural Language Processing (NLP), Computer Vision, and Deep Learning, with applications in video recognition but also time-series analysis. You will work with cutting-edge technologies and cloud platforms to build scalable, intelligent systems.

This position offers a hybrid work schedule, including both remote and office work arrangements, from our office in Bucharest, RO.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, implement, and optimize ML models using Python and deep learning frameworks.
• Develop and fine-tune LLMs and advanced NLP algorithms for various language understanding tasks.
• Build and deploy video recognition and computer vision models using state-of-the-art techniques.
• Apply time-series algorithms for forecasting, anomaly detection, and pattern recognition.
• Optimize model performance and scalability for production environments.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate AI solutions into products and services.
• Leverage cloud platforms (Azure, GCP, AWS) for model training, deployment, and monitoring.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree and 5+ years of experience in data science, machine learning, and/or AI roles.
• Strong proficiency in Python and ML/DL libraries such as PyTorch, TF, scikit-learn, and Hugging Face Transformers.
• Solid understanding of computer vision and video processing (e.g., OpenCV, MediaPipe, YOLO, or similar).
• Experience with deep learning model optimization and performance tuning.
• Familiarity with time-series modeling techniques (e.g., ARIMA, LSTM, Prophet).
• Proficiency with cloud platforms (Azure, GCP, AWS) and ML Ops tools.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Hands-on experience with advanced NLP techniques, including:
• Named Entity Recognition (NER)
• Text classification and sentiment analysis
• Topic modeling (e.g., LDA, BERTopic)
• Text summarization (extractive and abstractive)
• Question answering and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG)
• Embedding techniques (e.g., Word2Vec, BERT, Sentence Transformers)
• Prompt engineering and fine-tuning of LLMs

Preferred Requirements:

• Experience with pipeline and database optimization for large-scale data processing.
• Knowledge of multimodal learning or video-language models.
• Contributions to open-source projects or relevant research publications.
• Experience with real-time video analytics or edge AI deployment.
