As part of consumables business, we strive to make Amazon one stop shop for all the daily needs of a customer by making customer journey effortless. Our mission as category tech team is to create innovative solutions to meet specialized needs of everyday essentials categories to delight our customers & Selling partners. We simplify product discovery, personalize purchase experiences, enable complaint access to Regulated products selection, optimize category operations and enhance vendor tooling across all EE categories. As part of this team, we would be working closely for customers across Pets, Beauty, baby, household goods, health and other every day essentials categories. Right now team is working on a confidential project to unlock a new selection to Amazon business (a rare and unique opportunity). There are challenges across all aspects of customer journey dealing with a regulated product as they need to abide by special regulations.
We are the category Tech Team - a group of engineers, product managers and designers focused on helping customers discover and purchase the right products. Our customers care for their needs, and Amazon cares too. The business is growing fast, and most important the team is building features that impact hundreds of millions of customers!
THE CHALLENGES WE WILL TACKLE
As with every project within Amazon, we work backwards from our customer's needs, address the problems they meet and innovate on new technologies. Our team will tackle problems such as:
- Unlocking a new category of selection at amazon for customers to purchase.
- Simplify the process of choosing the right product.
- Automate all recurring purchases.
- Personalize customers' search and shopping experiences to help them find useful products. These preferences will be automatically inferred or directly declared by our customers.
- Make Amazon a trusted resource for all the regulated products.
- Provide expert advice and information to help guide our customers in their decision making process.
Key job responsibilities
1) Collect, evaluate, and present actionable data and recommendations to drive marketing, business development and product management decisions at a senior level.
2) Own, build and automate generation of business metrics using Tableau and Excel.
3) Understand high-level business goals and continually align work with them to meet needs of business.
4) Examine and solve problems at their root, stepping back to understand the broader context.
Recognize and adopt best practices in data investigation and reporting: data integrity, test design, analysis, validation, and self-service automation.
5) Write high quality code to retrieve and review data. Learn and understand a broad range of Amazon's data resources.

- 10+ years of professional or military experience
- 5+ years of SQL experience
- Experience programming to extract, transform and clean large (multi-TB) data sets
- Experience with theory and practice of design of experiments and statistical analysis of results
- Experience with AWS technologies
- Experience in scripting for automation (e.g. Python) and advanced SQL skills.
- Experience with theory and practice of information retrieval, data science, machine learning and data mining
- Experience managing, analyzing and communicating results to senior leadership

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $117,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $202,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Basic Qualifications
- 10+ years of professional or military experience
