We’re looking for a Monetization Engineering Manager to lead a team of engineers focused on building the systems, infrastructure, and features that power monetization experiments and drive ARR growth. In this role, you will be deeply embedded in technical execution while providing engineering leadership and team management.
You’ll work closely with engineers' day to day—reviewing architecture, guiding implementation, and ensuring quality—while partnering cross-functionally with Product, Growth, and Data Science teams to build experimentation capabilities that unlock revenue opportunities across pricing, packaging, and user journeys.
This is an opportunity to own a key part of the product’s business engine, with a strong emphasis on engineering excellence, experimentation velocity, and real business impact.
What You’ll Do
Lead and mentor a team of engineers building monetization systems, including paywalls, upsell flows, pricing experiments, and billing integrations
Be technically hands-on, participating in design reviews, architecture decisions, and occasional coding when needed
Own the development and scalability of A/B testing infrastructure, feature flag systems, and experimentation tooling
Ensure data integrity and performance across monetization-related events and services
Partner with Product and Data to define testable hypotheses, then deliver the engineering solutions to enable fast and reliable testing
Drive team execution and roadmap planning with a focus on shipping experiments quickly and safely
Help set technical direction for monetization engineering, contributing to long-term strategy and system design
Foster a culture of technical rigor, continuous improvement, and collaborative problem-solving
What You’ll Bring
8+ years of backend or full-stack engineering experience, with 3+ years managing high-performing engineering teams
Proven experience building user-facing features and backend services in a modern tech stack
Strong understanding of A/B testing platforms, experimentation design, and related infrastructure
Familiarity with subscription models, revenue metrics, and growth-related engineering challenges
Ability to dive deep into code, debug issues, and support engineers with architecture and implementation
Clear and confident communication skills—comfortable collaborating across technical and non-technical stakeholders
Experience with agile development, CI/CD, observability, and scalable systems
Nice to Have
Hands-on experience with feature flag tools (e.g., LaunchDarkly, Optimizely) or in-house experimentation frameworks
Exposure to payments, billing systems, or entitlements management
Background in SaaS or freemium business models
Experience with analytics platforms (e.g., Amplitude, Mixpanel) and event instrumentation best practices
Technical experience with modern web/backend stacks (e.g., Node.js, React, Python, Go, Kubernetes, GraphQL)
