Data Governance - Assistant Vice President / Vice President

About the Role 

iCapital is seeking a dynamic and skilled Assistant Vice President to join our Data Governance and Master Data Management team within the Data and Analytics department. This individual will serve as a crucial bridge between business and technology teams, helping to define data definitions, organize and execute project plans, and drive the adoption of data governance best practices. This role will acquire hands-on experience with data governance tools such as Informatica and demonstrate a passion for data quality, and alternative investments. 

Responsibilities 

• Lead collaboration between business and technology teams to define and standardize data definitions, ensuring consistency across the organization. 

• Maintain and update metadata in the enterprise data catalog, Informatica. 

• Perform ongoing data asset onboarding, tagging, and classification activities. 

• Monitor and manage user access to the data governance platform. 

• Troubleshoot and escalate technical issues related to catalog and governance tools. 

• Support data stewards and business users with training and catalog utilization. 

• Assist in documenting business terms, definitions, and data lineage. 

• Lead the implementation and administration of data governance tools, including cataloging, workflow, and policy modules. 

• Define metadata standards, data domain structures, and stewardship models in the tool. 

• Oversee governance workflows like term approvals, issue management and tool enhancements. 

• Drive the adoption of the catalog through training, office hours, and stakeholder engagement. 

• Collaborate with business data owners to ensure accurate and complete metadata capture. 

• Develop metrics and dashboards to monitor catalog utilization and data governance KPIs. 

• Utilize data governance tools and the business intelligence tool to monitor, track, and report on data quality initiatives and metrics. 

• Maintain the quality and integrity of master data within the system, conducting quality assurance reviews as needed. 

• Engage closely with various business units to stay informed of existing offerings and coordinate the onboarding of new funds. 

Qualifications 

• 6+ years of experience in the financial industry, or a related field is required 

• Demonstrated experience working with data governance solutions/tools such as Informatica, and familiarity with data quality monitoring practices 

• Able to communicate clearly and effectively across technical and business audiences, both verbally and in writing 

• Detail-oriented with a proven ability to efficiently identify and extract key information from complex legal documents 

• Self-motivated with strong organizational and project management skills to take initiative and manage daily responsibilities independently while supporting team objectives 

• Able to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders 

• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) 

• Experience with quality assurance processes in a data-focused environment is a plus 

 Benefits 

The base salary range for this role is $120,000 to $180,000 depending on level and experience.  iCapital offers a compensation package which includes salary, equity for all full-time employees, and an annual performance bonus.
