Job Summary

The Analyst is responsible to perform research, data analysis and modeling about Entergy’s (ETR) electric utility load, industries and customers, and commercial and business environment, which may have key implications for ETR’s long-term growth. This role supports projects, initiatives, or efforts by analyzing customer’s usage data, industrial and economic trends, supply and demand, business environment, and evaluating possible scenarios, and performing commercial analysis. The work scope also includes research and analysis to develop commercial and business assumptions for various growth initiatives and innovation efforts.

 

Job Duties/Responsibilities

Research and analysis in utility load segments, industry outlooks, and develop data analysis and modeling framework in these areas. Research and analysis may include:

  • Industrial/commercial load categories (e.g., Refining, steel, petrochems, etc.)
  • Analyzing the businesses economic drivers: supply & demand; price setting mechanisms, etc.
  • Utility regional economics - regional and state drivers
  • General trends, macroeconomic effects on utility businesses and customers
  • Commercial and business assumptions relevant to our and customer’s businesses
  • Monitor and maintain the integrity and validity of data
  • Design, build and maintain reports and data dashboards to derive insights from data

 

Research key trends in commercial and business environment in our region and develop understanding of key assumptions that may drive innovative products and services for ETR’s utility customers.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Education and Experience required

Financial Analyst III: Bachelor's Degree in Economics, Finance, Data Sciences, Engineering or other analytical fields and 4+ years of experience in consulting, finance, energy, or a related field is required or in lieu of a degree 8+ years of experience in consulting, finance, energy or a related field is required.

Financial Analyst Lead: Bachelor's Degree in Economics, Finance, Data Sciences, Engineering or other analytical fields and 5+ years of experience in consulting, finance, energy, or a related field is required or in lieu of a degree 9+ years of experience in consulting, finance, energy or a related field is required.

Financial Analyst Sr Lead: Bachelor's Degree in Economics, Finance, Data Sciences, Engineering or other analytical fields and 6+ years of experience in consulting, finance, energy, or a related field is required or in lieu of a degree 10+ years of experience in consulting, finance, energy or a related field is required.

Financial Analyst Sr Staff: Bachelor's Degree in Economics, Finance, Data Sciences, Engineering or other analytical fields and 7+ years of experience in consulting, finance, energy, or a related field is required or in lieu of a degree 11+ years of experience in consulting, finance, energy or a related field is required.
 

MBA, MS Economics, MS Finance, or MS Analytics in related areas is a plus

 

Understanding of energy, power, electric utility, commodities, energy finance is a plus.

 

Experience in data analysis, programming, or forecasting (machine learning algorithms, clustering techniques regression analysis etc.) using analytical tools such as SAS, SPSS, R, Python, SQL, Matlab, Java etc. is a plus.

  • Solid proficiency in advanced Excel modeling
  • Proven analytical and creative problem-solving abilities
  • Strong organization skills and attention to details
  • Ability to communicate complex matters in a clear and logical manner
  • Understanding of energy markets and electric utility business models

  • Ability to establish and maintain strong relationships at all levels of the organization
  • Strong collaboration, interpersonal, and teamwork skills
