Who we are looking for:
The ACV Research & Development team is growing! We are looking for a Systems Engineer to join our team, working on innovative hardware and software solutions that leverage machine learning to automate and improve vehicle inspection processes.

ACV has almost one thousand inspectors who write condition reports on every car in our marketplace, so buyers and sellers have an accurate assessment and can be confident in the deals they make. Our job is to create tools to help those inspectors work faster and more accurately.

The ideal candidate for this role would be a skilled technical professional with a strong background in developing and configuring testing solutions across product phases. They should be able to work closely with customers, vendors, and third-party partners, serving as a technical liaison to ensure smooth communication.

What you will do:
• Lead and manage the development and configuration of testing solutions across product phases for customer sites
• Act as a technical liaison, communicating and collaborating with customers, vendors, and third-party partners
• Ability to program, troubleshoot, and test complex electronics and networking systems based on product requirements
• Experience applying quality and process improvement techniques to existing products
• Ensure the customer’s expectations are captured as project requirements and transmitted internally
• Identify new development and potential technical risks; translate functional requirements to technical requirements to support product rollout
• Support the customer with the roll-out of the solution on site
• Provide ongoing feedback for product/solution improvements
What you will need:
• Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
• 1-3+ years of experience in systems engineering or telecommunications
• Bachelor’s degree in Project Management, Operations Management, or a related field (preferred)
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with external vendors and internal teams.
• Proficiency in Python and C for embedded software development.
• Experience with Linux driver development is a plus.
• Hands-on experience with embedded systems testing and debugging tools.
• Computer Skills: Expertise in operating systems, software installation, and image burning.
• Strong understanding of embedded hardware and software integration.
• Familiarity with soldering and minor electrical assembly.
• Knowledge of deployment architecture principles and system design considerations is a plus.
• Familiarity with defining and implementing quality process improvement methodologies. Quality certifications (e.g., Six Sigma Black Belt) are a plus.
• In-depth understanding of operational workflows and consumer needs.
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of projects while contributing to a team-oriented environment.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to engage with cross-functional teams.
Working Conditions:LI-MS1
• Hybrid in Buffalo, NY is preferred.
• Up to 50% travel and estimated to have an average duration of less than one week.
Compensation: $96,000.00 - $118,000,000.00 annually. Please note that final compensation will be determined based upon the applicant's relevant experience, skillset, location, business needs, market demands, and other factors as permitted by law. #LI-MS1
