Commerce, Data & Identity provides the core product management functions for areas crucial to Disney’s media businesses. These include initiatives and products that power digital commerce, identity, and growth, as well as those that reach uniquely across The Walt Disney Company enterprise, such as messaging and privacy, among others. Additionally, it is responsible for the data engineering, science, and products for Disney Entertainment & ESPN, along with their interconnection with other parts of The Walt Disney Company.
Job Summary
We are looking for a Data Engineer to join the Data Foundations Platform and Governance Engineering team. This team spans the technology platforms within the Disney Entertainment & ESPN Product and Technology group. The role of this Data Engineer will focus on privacy solutions and data subject rights automation, working cross-functionally with analytics, data architecture, legal and security partners to build scalable solutions to solve complex privacy related challenges. This role requires acute attention to detail, a strong sense of accountability, collaboration and understanding of large-scale cloud data platform infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the design and lead the build out of data engineering products.
- Assist in developing monitoring to alert for operational errors and work to resolve issues as they arise.
- Respond to legal inquiries for consumer data.
- Supports the maintenance of data protection solutions.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field, or equivalent work experience required
- 3+ years of enterprise experience with data and platforms including: Provisioning/Data Capture, Big Data, Data Warehousing and Business Intelligence.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and written communication skills.
- Experience and comfort solving problems in an ambiguous environment where there is constant change.
- Ability to think logically, communicate clearly, and be well organized.
- Technologies such as OneTrust, Databricks, Jupyter, Snowflake, Redshift, Airflow, DynamoDB, Redis, Kubernetes, Kinesis, REST APIs, Terraform, Go
- SQL, Python, Scala, other computer software languages
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in the technology industry and knowledge of data and product a plus
- Knowledge of agile SDLC methodologies
- Experience with documentation creation / maintenance
- Familiarity with privacy regulations and/or data subject rights

The hiring range for this position in Santa Monica, CA is $114,900 - $154,100 per year and in New York, NY is $120,300 - $161,300 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.Job Posting Segment:
