Data Engineer - ZEOS Logistics (all genders)

THE ROLE & THE TEAM

In Zalando ZEOS (B2B Logistics), we aim to provide our partners with a profitable fulfillment experience, not only within Zalando but across multiple European marketplaces. We provide a holistic approach to delivering the optimal fulfillment solution to meet our partners’ needs by unifying these services under a single umbrella, and we see that Data and Analytics will play a pivotal role in enabling data-driven insights and decision-making for our partners and business stakeholders.

As a (Mid/Senior) Data Engineer at ZEOS, you will work closely with Software Engineers, Applied Scientists, and BI & Data Analysts. You will play a key role in defining the department’s data strategy, and helping build the next-generation Data & Analytics platform and Data Science solutions. Above all, your work will change the way our partners experience logistics services.

• You will be joining a relatively new and growing team of Applied Scientists and Data Engineers spearheading Applied Science, Data Engineering & Analytics within the Connected Network department. We trust your entrepreneurial capabilities!

• Work in a multi-functional setup to identify and support our partner’s key needs and use cases and collaborate with engineering and applied science teams to develop our long-term data-oriented solutions for our partners.

• Share knowledge, promote clean data engineering methodologies and mentor colleagues. You’ll be a technical leader in the department when it comes to Data Engineering!

• Design, implement and maintain ETL pipelines feeding downstream applications that will help our partners make informed decisions about their stock, their growth options, and their monetization opportunities.

WE’D LOVE TO MEET YOU IF…

•  You are a true team player who believes in the power of a group rather than individuals

• You have 4+ years of Data Engineering focused experience

• You are experienced in distributed data processing using Spark SQL and PySpark (Databricks is a plus)

• You are proficient with Python with passion for writing clean, modular and maintainable production code

• You are knowledgeable in SQL, Relational or MPP data warehouses, ETL design and development, pipeline orchestration, data modeling, and data quality testing methods

• You have experience building data solutions on cloud, preferably AWS

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a detail-oriented and self-starter mindset. You value  a diverse and fast-paced business environment and hence balance your passion for big data with pragmatism to drive actions and impact

Nice to have:

• Airflow

• Git, CI/CD and DevOps

• Streaming or near real-time data processing

• Experience in e-commerce
