Fraud Specialist

As the Fraud Specialist, you will own the full fraud-incident lifecycle for our high-velocity payments portfolio: real-time detection, incident response, deep-dive investigations, root-cause analysis, and trend intelligence. In a hands-on, data-driven role, you will protect revenue, reduce chargebacks, and keep customers safe.

What You'll Do:

• Review live transaction alerts (cards, instant transfers, wallets).
• Escalate, block, or release in real time using rule engines and ML tools.
• Continuously tune rules, velocity checks, etc.
• Analyze reason codes, gather evidence, and file representments.
• Partner with risk data analysts to develop machine-learning models that strengthen our fraud-prevention capabilities.
• Identify root causes and propose fixes.
• Lead end-to-end casework on ATO, synthetic ID, social-engineering scams, etc.
• Document findings, ensure proper evidence handling, and liaise with law-enforcement when needed.
• Act as incident commander for major fraud events—contain, eradicate, recover, and produce post-incident reviews in line with ISO 27035 best practice.
• Track LATAM-specific fraud typologies, share intel with peers, and feed insights into product and risk & compliance teams.
• Create playbooks and run training sessions for IT, InfoSec, and Operations on fraud indicators and response steps.

What We're Looking For:

• Proven track record with real-time fraud-management platforms.
• Strong understanding of high-risk payment fraud typologies: card testing, friendly fraud, ATO, synthetic ID, refund abuse, bonus abuse.
• Experience managing claims and chargebacks, including evidence gathering and representment strategies.
• Comfortable interrogating data and visualizing trends.
• Familiarity with incident-response frameworks (ISO 27035, NIST), PCI DSS, and 3-D Secure
• Strong analytical, investigative and communication skills in English and Spanish is a must.

Prefered Qualifications and Experience

• Education: BS / BA or higher degree in Business, Finance, or related field; CFE, CFCS, or equivalent certification is a plus.
• 3-5 years in fraud prevention, transaction monitoring, or investigations within payments, fintech, or card-acquiring environments.
