Position

Apogee's ideal Operations Research Analyst will work independently and as part of a small dynamic team of operations research analysts, data scientists, and software developers to help Apogee & our Department of Homeland Security (DHS) client build analytical systems and conduct analyses that delivers data-driven insights to enable reduction in cost and complexity, increase trust and integrity, and improve operational mission effectiveness and strategies.  If you love data, tools, and finding answers for today's and avoiding tomorrow's problems, then you'll love Apogee and this position!

 

Duties
 

  • Develop analytic approaches, statistical models, and data visualization products to support mission and operational requirements of one or more DHS component agencies
  • Applies modelling and simulation methods and provides analysis of results to address immediate Homeland Security challenges
  • Prototypes data science and machine learning applications to address critical DHS client needs

 

Required

 

  • Bachelor of Science in Operations Research, Statistics, or related field; Master’s degree preferred
  • Proficiency in Data Science and/or Statistical Analysis
  • Experience programming in R, Python, or other scripting language for scientific computing
  • Skilled in data visualization and use of one or more business intelligence applications including Tableau
  • Knowledge of experimental design and analysis of experiments
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
     

Desired Skills
 

  • Prior experience applying data-driven methods to support national security challenges
  • Prior experience supporting the Homeland Security domain
  • Strong proficiency in Tableau or Power BI
  • Knowledge and experience with one or more geospatial information systems (GIS)
  • Experience with databases, ETL, and data preparation
  • Demonstrated ability to identify enabling methodologies and provide near-term solutions to address challenging customer requirements
