The MDM Data Analyst is responsible for the daily monitoring, management and analysis of Meter Data Management (MDM) system data to ensure optimal network health, prompt resolution of exceptions, and accurate synchronization of data across the MDM, CRM and the Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) head-end. Analysis, troubleshooting and exception handling for the end to end meter to cash process are the primary responsibilities of the MDM Data Analyst.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Monitors daily synchronization between CRM, AMI head-end and MDM, ensuring accurate synchronization of data across all systems. 3. Reviews key network performance metrics daily (including percentage of register and interval readings), identifies and tracks trends and addresses issues to ensure optimal network health and performance. Provides status reporting on network performance, data collection issues, synchronization and exception handling. Analyzes network performance to determine if infrastructure issues should be communicated to the AMI vendor.  (15%)
  4. Monitors and investigates data collection issues, such as stale meters. Troubleshoots to identify the root cause of a data collection issue (e.g., conducts mapping to determine if a stale meter problem is related to the AMI network or if the location was previously stale).  Identifies and tracks trends. Monitors for “soft failures” (e.g., spikes, maximum demand) to check for abnormal consumption patterns or to locate problematic meters. Generates service orders for work to be performed in support of customer billing, such as re-reads, reading correction, field investigation of stale meters and data gaps. (15%)
  5. Works with other departments to support implementation and testing of required CRM software/process changes for Billing, Metering, and Customer Service that may impact the MDM system.  Reviews vendor test notes to identify the changes and anticipated impacts. Develops test cases and scripts for new patches and versions of MDM software, ensuring existing functionality is not negatively affected. Executes the tests and analyzes results to ensure changes do not adversely impact billing functions. (10%)
  6. Develops and maintains processes and procedure documentation. Identifies and recommends strategies and procedures to eliminate avoidable problems through preventative measures. Coordinates processes such as meter changes and new services, ensuring that all meter data has been properly managed so that billing process impacts are minimized.  (10%)
  7. Develops requirements for, configures and tests MDM reports. Identifies and analyzes methods to increase productivity through rules configuration and automation. Recommends new processes to optimize operational business functions enabled by AMI and MDM data (e.g., transformer loading). Supports other business units with custom report development by providing a thorough understanding of the data fields. (10%)
