Geotab is seeking a Lead Embedded Test & Automation Developer who will be a technical champion by providing technical leadership to a team of test automation developers delivering Hardware in the Loop (HIL), Software in the Loop (SIL), platforms and CI/CD pipelines for all Geotab telematics and expandability embedded products.. What you'll do:

As a Lead Embedded Test & Automation Developer your key area of responsibility will be managing test coverage, testing environment creation, maintenance, preparing technical documents and designing specifications for the framework and automated tools usage. You will need to work closely with a team of test automation developers to solve complex problems, contribute to defining strategic direction with stakeholders, help with planning the roadmap, and synthesizing feedback to ensure team success.

To be successful in this role you will be proficient in test automation tools and frameworks, such as Gitlab, Github, Jenkins, dSPACE, Vector tools, and possess technical competence using software programs, including, but not limited to, Google Suite for business (Sheets, Docs, Slides). The successful candidate will also have strong analytical skills with the ability to problem-solve well-judged decisions and be able to work well under pressure and respond to fast changing priorities and deadlines.

How you'll make an impact:

• Participate in defining, designing and implementing tools/infrastructure improvement for embedded software end to end automation test frameworks.

• Help determine strategy, work breakdown structure and timeline for HIL and SIL automation setups.

• Prepare technical documents and design specifications for the framework and automated tools usage.

• Be involved in understanding new devices and products, their requirements and define test requirements with test strategy and test plan. 

• Technically guide and mentor junior team members in implementing and extending embedded test framework support.

• Manage test coverage, test environment creation, and maintenance.

• Drive continuous improvement in test coverage and test effectiveness.

• Build and contribute to CI/CD Pipelines, release management and testing, release strategies.

• Recommend innovative ideas to automate processes in order to reduce manual effort and implement.

• Solve complex problems, contribute to defining strategic direction with stakeholders, help with planning the roadmap, and synthesizing feedback to ensure team success.

What you'll bring to the role:

• Bachelors in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related field.

• 8-10 years experience in Embedded development and test automation, Iot devices test automation, or similar role.

• 2+ years leading development and development and automation efforts.

• Expert understanding and experience writing automated tests (Python, Pytest, Robot framework preferred).

• Experience dealing with hardware based testing, test setups. Comfortable working on Linux, C/C++ along with higher level languages and cloud interaction.

• Hands on experience in designing and implementing reliable automation frameworks for IoT/Embedded devices is required.
