Job Title: Specialist, Data and Insights

Reports To: People Systems, Data and Insights

Work Pattern: Hybrid/Remote with flexible working options available 

Contract Length: Permanent

Grade: P3

Location: Any approved Save the Children International office location. 

Time Zone (that the role holder must be available to work in): Any approved SCI office location

Team and Job Purpose

To manage and optimise the lifecycle of our people focussed systems - Oracle HCM and LMS, ensuring seamless operation, enabling processes and compliance.  We work to empower informed decision-making and enhance organisational performance. By providing strategic insights and meaningful data analysis, the team contributes to a data-driven culture that supports effective decision-making. Additionally, the team is dedicated to developing intuitive dashboards and reporting tools, ensuring robust data governance, accuracy, and timely reporting for all stakeholders.

Role purpose

The Specialist, Data and Insights will be pivotal in enhancing the effectiveness of Save the Children International (SCI) by providing accurate, timely, and actionable data insights. As part of the Global People Systems, Data and Insights Team, you will develop robust reporting mechanisms and assure data quality.

The role is focused on developing scalable solutions to manage and interpret HR data, developing detailed dashboards to track strategic metrics, producing regular and ad hoc reports, and supporting compliance with data governance frameworks. This includes working collaboratively with colleagues globally to foster a data-driven culture and improve organisational impact.

The Specialist, Data and Insights will enhance Save the Children International’s data management and insights capabilities by identifying opportunities for improvement and implementing innovative solutions. They will build and lead cross functional and movement wide communities of practice, fostering collaboration and knowledge-sharing to develop effective processes that maximise the value of HR and other organisational data. By driving these improvements, the post holder will deliver deeper insights that support strategic decision-making and enable meaningful organisational change.

 

Principal Accountabilities

Data Analysis and Insights

  • Manage HR reporting tools to enhance workforce insights.
  • Analyse HR system data (e.g., Oracle, LMS, Power BI) to identify trends in recruitment, retention, and diversity.
  • Create bespoke dashboards and reports for stakeholders.
  • Use statistical methods to predict workforce dynamics and support decision-making.

Reporting

  • Produce quarterly scorecards and trend analysis dashboards.
  • Contribute to board, trustee, and external reporting requirements.
  • Respond to senior leadership requests for strategic HR data.

Data Governance

  • Implement governance frameworks and ensure GDPR compliance.
  • Conduct audits and improve data quality through standardisation and validation rules.
  • Promote best practices in data privacy.

Collaboration and Training

  • Work with HR teams to meet data needs and deliver insights.
  • Partner with process improvement teams to enhance data accuracy.
  • Train HR staff globally on reporting tools and data interpretation.
  • Act as a link between technical and non-technical teams.

Continuous Improvement

  • Develop scalable solutions to streamline data analysis and reporting processes.
  • Stay informed of emerging trends in HR analytics and incorporate best practices into SCI’s systems.
  • Regularly review feedback from stakeholders to improve reporting tools and methodologies

 

Experience and Skills

Essential

  1. Experience in data analysis roles, ideally within HR or an international NGO context.
  2. Advanced proficiency in analysing and interpreting complex datasets.
  3. Knowledge of data visualisation tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau), HR systems (e.g., Oracle), and advanced Excel functions.
  4. Ability to plan and execute multiple reporting cycles and initiatives simultaneously.
  5. Proven ability to collaborate with global teams and present insights to diverse audiences.
  6. Flexibility to meet tight deadlines and adapt to evolving organisational needs.

 

Education and Qualifications 

Essential

  • Degree level education or equivalent work experience

Desirable

  • Relevant certifications in analytics tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI), data governance, or GDPR compliance are advantageous or willingness to upskill.
