Job Description Summary:

The Senior Cybersecurity Data Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing comprehensive security measures to safeguard the confidentiality, integrity, and availability data at OhioHealth. This role requires a seasoned professional with extensive knowledge and experience in data security practices, encryption, access control, data loss prevention (DLP), compliance management, and DevSecOps principles.

Responsibilities And Duties:

Data Security Management
Develop and implement data security strategies, policies, and procedures.
Manage data encryption techniques and tools across all data lifecycle stages (in-transit, at-rest, and in-use).

Data Loss Prevention (DLP)
Administer and monitor data loss prevention solutions to ensure sensitive data remains within company control.
Conduct regular audits and assessments of DLP effectiveness and refine policies accordingly.

Compliance and Regulatory Adherence
Ensure compliance with regulatory standards (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, PCI DSS).
Prepare compliance documentation, perform audits, and engage with regulatory bodies as needed.

DevSecOps Integration
Collaborate with development and operations teams to integrate security best practices into the CI/CD pipelines.
Implement automated security testing tools and continuous monitoring solutions.
Manage security configurations and compliance for infrastructure as code (IaC) deployments.

Collaboration and Communication
Work closely with IT teams, developers, database administrators, and business units to ensure secure handling of data.
Provide training and guidance on data security best practices across the organization.

Mentorship
Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and promote a security-first culture across teams.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree: Computer and Information Science (Required)

Additional Job Description:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in information security, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field required.
  • 7+ years of experience in DevSecOps, Security Engineering, or related fields.
  • Hands-on experience with DevSecOps methodologies, including CI/CD pipeline security and automated security testing.
  • Demonstrable experience managing DLP solutions, data encryption, access control mechanisms, and compliance requirements.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud platforms and their security services.
  • Knowledge of secure coding practices and code review.
  • Fundamental of all operating systems (e.g., Windows, macOS, and all Linux distributions).
  • In-depth knowledge of encryption technologies, including symmetric and asymmetric encryption, and hashing.
  • Familiarity with cloud security best practices (AWS, Azure, GCP).

SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE

  • Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash, PowerShell).
  • Deep knowledge of containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Experience with IaC tools (Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible).
  • Strong expertise in CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, CircleCI).
  • Strong understanding of database security and management (SQL, NoSQL).
  • Expertise in data protection tools and platforms such as Microsoft Purview and Information Protection Labels.

DESIRED ATTRIBUTES

  • Advanced certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CEH, or similar are strongly preferred.
  • Masters in Cybersecurity or Data Analytics.
  • Familiarity with SIEM and log management tools (e.g., Splunk, ELK).
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within diverse teams.
