Job Description:

GDIT has an entry-level opportunity to work in GDIT's FEDCIV CTO organization as an AI & ML ENGINEER. Your work will provide transformative solutions to our clients’ big-data obstacles and help advance the mission.

The AI & ML ENGINEER  opportunity is located in our Falls Church, VA office. To be considered, candidates will follow a hybrid schedule, requiring on-site presence three (3) days per week in Falls Church, VA.

HOW AN AI & ML ENGINEER WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:

• Idealize, design, and develop advanced prototypes for AI and data solutions.
• Translate business use cases into AI implementations.
• Use predictive modeling to increase and optimize customer experience, efficiencies, process improvements, and other business outcomes.
• Design, train, tune, and evaluate large language models.
• Build and optimize Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines, including vector store integration, embedding tuning, and query expansion techniques.
• Deploy solutions in the cloud using either Microsoft Azure and/or AWS, both on-prem and hybrid.
• Design and develop scalable intelligent document processing pipelines.
• Work with cross-functional teams to integrate LLM and RAG components into end-to-end solutions.
• Conduct prompt engineering, chain-of-thought reasoning design, and grounding strategies to improve model performance and factual accuracy.
• Analyze model outputs, perform error analysis, and iteratively improve model accuracy and relevance.
• Maintain and document training runs, model configurations, and evaluation metrics.
• Contribute to data pipeline development, including preprocessing, annotation, and curation of training datasets.
• Evaluate the effectiveness and accuracy of new data sources and gathering techniques.
• Support efforts to capture new business through technical work and capability briefings.
• Maintain current and advanced knowledge of progressive and advancing technology as assigned.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:
● Education: Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Computer Science or closely related discipline
● Required Experience: 0+ years of related experience
● Required Technical Skills:

• Ability to fine-tune models, perform model optimization, and/or Graph Analytics
• Ability to perform prompt engineering and evaluation methodologies for generative models
• Experience with Conversational AI, Agentic AI, Chat Bots, Multimodal AI, and/or Predictive Analytics

● Security Clearance Level: Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance
● Required Skills and Abilities:

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively
• Ability to develop technical approaches to use cases and build prototype solutions

● Preferred Skills: Experience with Python or similar programing languages.

● Location: Hybrid to Falls Church, VA office working three (3) days per week in office

The likely salary range for this position is $69,264 - $86,250. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
