Wells Fargo is seeking a strategic and hands-on Senior Lead Data Scientist to join the Conduct Analytics and Reporting (CAR) Team. This is an exciting opportunity to collaborate with Conduct Management leaders to address compliance challenges by developing AI/ML solutions using custom, open-source, and proprietary models. In this role, you will lead a small team of data scientists to deliver AI and advanced analytics solutions to support needs of business stakeholders in Conduct Management.
In this role, you will:
- Lead strategy, design, and implementation of complex initiatives by utilizing cutting edge AI models, machine learning algorithms, and statistical techniques.
- Partner and consult with Conduct Management business leaders to understand strategic goals and translate them into AI/ML initiatives.
- Mentor and guide a small team of data scientists, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
- Ensure data quality, model accuracy, and reproducibility through rigorous validation and documentation.
- Communicate insights and recommendations clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Collaborate with data engineering and IT teams to ensure scalable and secure deployment of analytics solutions.
- Provide direction and expertise to leadership on implementing innovative AI/ML-driven business solutions that are strategically focused.
- Serve as an expert advisor to Conduct Management executives on complex, visible, and diverse solutions.
- Enforce and establish best practices related to data quality and governance.
Required Qualifications:
- 7+ years of Analytics, Data Science, Statistics or equivalent experience demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education.
- 5+ years of Python/R and other programming languages.
- 3+ years of experience in a leadership or mentorship role.
- Master's degree or higher in a quantitative discipline such as mathematics, statistics, engineering, physics, economics, or computer science.
Desired Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience with AI/ML concepts, including large language models (LLMs), deep learning, or natural language processing (NLP).
- 5+ years of experience with SDLC and Agile tools such as JIRA, GitHub, Confluence etc.
- Exposure to AI/MLOps practices and model deployment pipelines.
- Strong analytical skills, with experience using data and insights to inform business decisions.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for cross-functional teams.
- Experience extracting data-driven insights from technical systems and business processes.
Job Expectations:
- Ability to travel up to 10% of the time.
- This position offers a hybrid work schedule and is posted in Charlotte, NC (uptown) and West Des Moines, IA
