NEA’s Waste Management Division (WMD) is responsible for the regulation of the waste management industry and implementation of key initiatives under the Zero Waste Master Plan, to achieve an efficient and sustainable waste-to-resource management system in Singapore.The Waste Regulation Department (WRD) in WMD administers the General Waste Disposal Facility licensing scheme, Mandatory Waste Reporting scheme, mandatory provision of recycling receptacles in all condominiums and private apartments, and the mandatory requirements for food waste segregation and treatment by large food waste generators. The department aims to achieve an efficient and sustainable waste-to-resource management system in Singapore.
[What you will be working on]
We are seeking a dedicated professional to join our team in the Waste Regulation Department to manage and undertake initiatives in improving Singapore’s waste management system. You will be responsible for the following:
Manage the Mandatory Waste Reporting (MWR) scheme including:
Ensuring premises' compliance with MWR requirements.
Working with inspection and audit teams to execute enforcement regime for MWR scheme.
Reviewing action plans and enforcement regime for the MWR scheme.
Performing in-depth analysis on data.
Managing and providing data support to various stakeholders.
Working with policy teams to review strategic waste-related initiatives.
Reviewing work procedures and processes based on observations and data collected.
Working with IT team to maintain a portal for collation and consolidation of premises’ data.
Handling of feedback and enquiries, ensuring timely provision of information, clarification or advice regarding waste and recycling regulations
Any other tasks as assigned including improving recycling of assigned waste stream; promoting and implementing 3R programmes; working with community, businesses and government agencies; and collating recycling data.
[What we are looking for]
The job might be for you if you possess the following qualities:
Degree in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical, Chemical and Electrical Engineering
2 – 5 years working experience in waste management industry is preferred
Knowledge of environmental regulations and sustainability practices
Team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills
Highly self-motivated, mature, independent, and resourceful
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Experience in stakeholder management and engagement
Effective writing and presentation skills
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
Competent in data analytics and statistics assessment
Computer literate, proficient in Microsoft Office (e.g., Excel, Words, PowerPoint)
Experience with data analysis using open-source programming languages, particular Python or R will be an added advantage
Able to work after-office hours and weekends, if required
