The Position

Workforce Optimization Intern (Data Science)

This role is part of the Integrated Workforce Strategies Chapter within the People & Culture organization. Our purpose is to enable the business to achieve its ambitious goals while anticipating and adapting to a rapidly changing environment. We elevate the way leaders shape our future workforce by providing data-driven, skills-based workforce planning solutions to the business, such as Strategic Workforce Planning. We are also developing Roche-wide innovative frameworks to support closing our gaps (e.g. expanding our internal skills by leveraging external partners). Shaping new planning solutions, creating insights and automating processes as well as working with cross-functional partners offers you great learning opportunities.

The Opportunity:

As an intern in the Workforce Optimization team for a 6-month period, your main focus will be learning about External Workforce and Strategic Workforce Planning at Roche as well as how data & technology can enable strategic decision making for our workforce.

You will support various initiatives in our team, analyze data and prepare reports, and contribute to the further evolution of our frameworks. You closely collaborate with the experts in the field in an agile working environment characterized by empowerment, open communication and willingness to test new ideas. 

Who You Are:

  • You are in your Bachelor or Master studies in the field of economics, business administration, HR Management, STEM subjects or similar

  • You have a passion for data science and technology

  • Ideally, you have first (internship) experience in HR, and/or analytics fields

  • You can address complex problems and develop effective solutions

  • You have expertise in Office or Google Suite, esp. Excel or GoogleSheets, for data analysis and in programming languages like R (or Python) and familiarity with packages like shinyApp, CRAN and dplyr. Experience with SQL would be a plus.

  • You are motivated to work independently in a collaborative and dynamic environment and can adapt to different needs

  • You have a can-do attitude, a growth mindset and are willing to learn new competencies

  • You are characterized by a high level of social competence and are able to efficiently communicate in English

  •  Start date: September 2025

  • Possible work locations: Mannheim (first location), St Cugat, Penzberg, Basel, Rotkreuz 

  • Workload: Full-time

  • Duration: 6 months

Please remember that this internship is aimed at students (m/f/d) who are currently enrolled for the entire period of the internship (Bachelor's or Master's, NOT PhD) or, alternatively, at people in a gap year of a maximum of one year (between Bachelor's and Master's studies), where it can be proven in writing at which university/college and exactly when (month/year) within a year the studies will be continued.

Applications in Switzerland:

You are currently enrolled at a university, or you have recently finished your studies within 12 months.

Please note that due to regulations non-EU/EFTA citizens have to provide a certificate from the university stating that an industry internship is mandatory as part of the university training.

You are a recent graduate who completed your studies within the last three years and hold a valid work permit for Spain. Please make sure to upload your "Vida Laboral" document along with your CV when submitting your application.
