The Head of Regional Sales, Americas position is to drive sales growth of new range of Rapid Micro instruments, consumables, and services to Pharmaceutical and Personal Care Products companies within US and Canada. The Head of Regional Sales, Americas, is responsible for managing a direct sales team and achieving annual revenue objectives.  

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute strategic plans to achieve sales targets in the assigned region 
  • Create and communicate sales goals and ensure C-level executives are informed on the progress of those goals. 
  • Manage the sales pipeline to accurately forecast both new business and system placements.  
  • Talent acquisition: Build a high-performing team by hiring and developing top talent 
  • Play an active role in the team’s career development by consistent coaching and timely feedback 
  • Maintain a high-touch level of contact with customers, assisting sales representatives with negotiating and closing deals. 
  • Assists sales support/marketing staff members in activities such as sales promotion, training, and market research in planning and executing special projects. 
  • Remains current on developments in field(s) of expertise, regulatory requirements, a comprehensive knowledge of the company's products, markets, and objectives as well as industry trends. 
  • Coordinate with the Support team (Validation & Services) to support pre- and post-sales activities that builds customer allegiance 
  • Administrative duties include a weekly report of activities, forecasting, and updating the CRM with information required to understand the sales pipeline.  
  • Other accountabilities as assigned. 

Job Requirements and Experience

  • BS/BA degree in science / business related field; MBA preferred  
  • 5+ years of successful leadership with a direct sales team in the Life Science industry, preferably with capital equipment and complex sales cycles 
  • Microbiology acumen and/or knowledge of industrial microbiology lab operations is highly desirable 
  • Firm understanding of the biopharmaceutical and CDMO landscape and key players/dynamics 
  • Completion of at least one professional selling course (e.g., Miller Heiman, SPIN, SPI Strategic Selling, Challenger).   
  • Excellent selling, organization, communication, and presentation skills required.   
  • Computer skills – Proficient with salesforce.com, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. 
  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time.
