About the Role:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Data Science Manager to join our internal Chief Data and Analytics Office (CDAO) team. This role will be pivotal in driving data-driven decision-making and enhancing business performance across KPMG. You will lead the design, development, and implementation of advanced analytical solutions, including predictive models and AI-powered data products, to address complex business challenges and unlock new opportunities. As a Data Science Manager, you will be responsible for guiding a team of data scientists, fostering a culture of innovation, and ensuring the successful delivery of impactful data-driven insights.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead a team of data scientists in the development and deployment of predictive models, statistical analyses, and AI/ML solutions.
- Collaborate with senior stakeholders to understand business needs, define analytical objectives, and translate them into actionable data science projects.
- Oversee the entire model lifecycle, from initial design and development to deployment, monitoring, and ongoing maintenance.
- Ensure the quality, accuracy, and reliability of data products and analytical insights.
- Communicate complex technical findings and recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences, including senior management.
- Drive the adoption of best practices in data science, including model governance, data quality, and ethical considerations.
- Mentor and develop data science team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation.
- Proactively identify opportunities to leverage data science to improve business efficiency, drive revenue growth, and enhance client service.
Essential Skills and Experience:
- Extensive experience in developing and deploying predictive models and AI/ML solutions in a business context.
- Proven leadership skills with experience managing and mentoring a team of data scientists.
- Strong understanding of statistical modelling, machine learning algorithms, and data mining techniques.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex information to diverse audiences.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R, and experience with data science tools and libraries.
- Experience with data visualization and the creation of compelling data stories.
- Ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders across different business functions.
- A proactive and strategic mindset, with a passion for leveraging data to drive business impact.
Desirable Skills and Experience:
- Experience with cloud-based data platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and big data technologies.
- Experience with model monitoring, performance evaluation, and retraining strategies.
- Knowledge of data governance principles and practices.
- Experience working in a consulting environment.
- Master's degree or PhD in a quantitative field such as statistics, mathematics, computer science, or a related discipline.
- Emphasizing strategic thinking and business alignment.
- Highlighting the importance of communication and stakeholder management.
- Including mentoring and development of team members.
