Cloud Data & API Engineer – Chicago, IL
ADM Investor Services, Inc.
This is an exempt level position.

Position Summary:
We are seeking a Cloud Data & API Engineer with deep experience in Microsoft Azure, .NET, modern data platforms, and a growing knowledge of AI/ML technologies. This role blends cloud-native backend development, data engineering, and AI integration, supporting scalable, intelligent applications. You'll help bridge traditional systems like SQL Server with cloud-native services including Databricks, Azure Data Lake, Kafka, and OpenAI services.

Job Responsibilities:     

  • Design and develop RESTful and GraphQL APIs using .NET (C#) on Azure App Services, Functions, or containers.
  • Build scalable data pipelines using Databricks (PySpark, Delta Lake), Azure Data Factory, and Azure Data Lake Storage.
  • Develop and support event-driven architectures using Kafka and Azure Event Hubs.
  • Integrate data across sources including SQL Server, data warehouses, and streaming platforms.
  • Build and deploy AI-enhanced services using Azure OpenAI, LLM frameworks (e.g., LangChain, Semantic Kernel), or Databricks ML.
  • Collaborate with engineering, analytics, and DevOps teams to deliver intelligent, production-grade solutions.
  • Ensure high performance, security, and reliability across cloud-based API and data systems.
Job Requirements:
  • 4+ years in backend or data engineering roles.
  • Strong experience with .NET Core / C# and API development (REST, GraphQL).
  • Deep knowledge of Azure cloud services, including:
    • Azure Data Lake, Data Factory, Synapse, App Services, Functions, Event Hubs
  • Hands-on experience with Databricks and Apache Spark (PySpark or Scala).
  • Proficiency with SQL Server for data modeling, querying, and optimization.
  • Familiarity with Apache Kafka or Azure equivalents.
  • Experience integrating or experimenting with AI/ML solutions such as Azure OpenAI, MLflow, or prompt engineering.
  • Understanding of CI/CD, Docker, and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform/Bicep).
  • Awareness of security best practices including OAuth2, managed identity, and role-based access control (RBAC).
Preferred Skills:
  • Experience with LLM orchestration frameworks (e.g., LangChain, Semantic Kernel, Prompt Flow).
  • Experience with Azure API Management, Logic Apps, or Service Bus.
  • Familiarity with dbt, Airflow, or similar orchestration tools.
  • Awareness of Responsible AI practices and AI governance in enterprise environments.
  • Exposure to integrating on-premises systems with cloud environments.

Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Hourly and salaried non-exempt employees will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime hours.

If hired, employees will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base pay (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.

The pay range for this position is expected to be between:

$130,000.00 - $150,000.00
