What is the opportunity?
 

The Lumina Platform Support team within RBC Borealis is looking for a Lead Data Engineer to perform support activities across different platforms, including AWS, Asure, CDL (Snowflake, Data Bricks), along with various data movement platforms such as IDP and ETL DataStage . The role is part of a team that works across IT and with assigned business line(s) to enable business objectives and strategies. The role reports directly to Senior Manager - Data Solutions. The successful candidate will have a positive attitude and preferably prior working knowledge of the on prem and Data Warehouse Cloud environments delivered securely (24x7).  

Your responsibilities include:

  • Responsible for production DataStage (Extract-Transform-Load) environments;

  • Regularly interact with the Business Clients, Audit teams, Vendors and Global infrastructure teams, Assist in Audits and Access campaigns;

  • Identify Automation opportunities, Monitor Platforms, address alerts, implement changes;

  • Understand, Check and provide system log feedback for Vendors / Dev. Resources;

  • Continually assure systems are Compliant with accordance to Risk Standards;

  • Execute DR exercises on various applications and architectures;

  • Understand / Apply best practices in database server installations;

  • Import/Export Data from different schemas;

  • Run monthly Stability calls with Primary Stakeholders;

  • Assist in the Backup / Recovery of production data and databases.

You're our ideal candidate if you have:

  • 5 years of experience with Unix/Linux and Windows operating systems as a developer and/or system administrator;

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills;

  • System Owner aptitude attitude with strong sense accountability over productions services under your realm;

  • System Reliability Engineering knowledge will be part of the role moving forward;

  • Operational experience in most of the following technologies: Red Hat 7 / 8, HP SCON DB, IBM Data Stage, Stonebranch, SQL, DB2, Sybase, Oracle DB, Data Warehouse, Open-Shift (OCP), Data Lake - Hadoop / Hive, Cloudera, WebSphere, Infosphere, WINOWS Server,  IBM AIX, TIBCO EMS, Weblogic, C, C++, MongoDB, Elastic Search, Python, Snowflake, Helios, Ansible;

  • Flexible to provide on call support to resolve issue as required;

  • Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP,  Experience with Unix/Linux Operating Systems, SNOW, JIRA, and ticketing workflows;

  • Experience with ITIL processes, and with Monitoring and alerting applications/tools such as moogsoft, Dyntarce, Grafana;

  • ITIL Certification Service Operations, Development and Transition.

  • Experience with Business Technology Risk, Compliance and Audit (SOC1, SOX).
