The purpose of this position is to provide support to the transactional client development team in a number of areas, including pitches, presentations, legal directory and award submissions, legal updates, mass mailings, events, research, marketing collateral updates (including credentials, web site and bios), data entry/compilation, and a wide variety of other activities.

Job Description

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Digital Marketing:

  • Prepare and distribute digital marketing content (such as email marketing campaigns, newsletters, social media posts, invitations, and announcements).

  • Provide related data analytics to track the effectiveness of campaigns and initiatives.

  • Maintain, update, and edit website content (including attorney biographies, practice, and industry pages).

Content Management:

  • Maintain, update, and edit marketing credentials and other marketing collateral.

  • Assist with the assembly and production of pitches and proposals.

  • Provide editorial support.

Event Coordination:

  • Assist with seminars, webinars, conferences, and other events, including logistics, invitations, materials, responses, and follow-up communications and tracking.

Legal Directory and Award Submissions:

  • Assist with tasks related to legal directory and award submissions, such as monitoring/tracking research schedules and results, client referee and other data entry, and maintaining lawyer profiles.

Database Management:

  • Utilize the Firm’s CRM (Interaction) and experience database (Foundation), including data entry and running reports.

General Support:

  • Perform any and all other duties as necessary and as assigned by your supervisor for efficient functioning of the Department, Office, and Firm.

INTERACTIONS AND CHALLENGES:

The Client Development Assistant must be able to interact at all levels of the Firm. Most of the day-to-day interaction will be with members of the Marketing Department, but the Assistant will also be in contact with lawyers and secretaries.

QUALIFICATIONS / KSAs:

  • Bachelor’s degree - Marketing, Communications, English or a related field preferred.

  • 0-2 years of relevant experience.

  • Flexible to work overtime when needed.

  • Detail-oriented, organized, and thorough.

  • Solid technical skills, including MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and AI-powered tools, such as Chat GPT.

  • Ability to prioritize, multi-task, meet deadlines, and coordinate own work.

  • Good interpersonal skills, polite, professional, positive manner and a client service approach.

  • Good oral and written communication skills.

  • Good grammar, vocabulary, reading comprehension.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.

  • Knowledge of the Firm’s policies and procedures.

  • Demonstrates intellectual curiosity.

  • Proactive approach to tasks and willingness to take on new challenges.

  • Ability to function in a collaborative organization and be a team player.

PHYSICAL EFFORT / WORK CONDITIONS

  • This position operates in a professional office environment which is generally free of hazards and exposure to adverse environmental conditions.

  • This position requires regular attendance on-site at a Dechert location.

  • This position routinely operates standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopy machines, fax machines and filing cabinets, and requires frequent communication with the firm’s employees and partners as well as third parties.

  • This position is mainly sedentary.  Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting; to read, sit and type for sustained periods of time; to walk, stand, reach and bend; to open and close filing cabinets and access and retrieve materials in file rooms; to lift, carry and move files or other items of light to moderate weight; to operate equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination; and to verbally communicate to exchange information..

  • This position requires a normal audio range, with or without correction. It also requires the normal visual range, with or without correction. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

At the time of this posting, the salary range for this position in New York is $50,000 to $63,000 annually. Actual compensation is commensurate with job related knowledge, skills, experience and location of the position.
