Job Description
Position Purpose:
As a Data Analyst, this position will apply data mining, statistical, and modeling techniques to numerous types of data on a daily basis. This position will work closely with various areas within various Operational Areas including, but not limited to; Metering, Systems Maintenance, and Production, then work with the Finance team to help develop and implement corrective solutions based on where the data leads you. Once data has been gathered and interpreted, the Data Analyst will report back what has been found in a comprehensive study to wider business/relevant colleagues.
Primary Duties/Responsibilities:
- Mining data sets using open-source technologies.
- Analyze different datasets related to customer accounts to detect, analyze and interpret useful patterns and trends in complex data sets that could be helpful for diagnosis and prediction of consumption, asset failure, maintenance needs.
- Using data to find and analyze sources, group data in logical categories, ensure data consistency, cleanse the data and provide insights.
- Create and analyze reports to determine patterns and trends.
- Present reports visually such as graphs, charts, and dashboards.
- Develop and help to implement corrective solutions.
- Defining new data collection and analysis processes.
- Performing analysis to assess quality and meaning of data.
- Preparing reports for the management stating trends, patterns, and predictions using relevant data.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education/Experience/Background:
- Bachelor’s degree in Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 1-3 years of professional experience needed using open-source technologies.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Analytical skills to perform critical reviews of the mined data.
- Strong conceptual and quantitative problem-solving skills and the ability to think creatively.
- Able to communicate data to any audience visually, verbally, or in writing.
- Preparing reports for the management stating trends, patterns, and predictions using relevant data.
- Experience using statistical packages for analyzing datasets (Excel, Access, etc.)
- Experience using financial database applications (JPE, PS, SAP, etc.)
- Ability to capture, clean, compare and analyze data from multiple sources and formulate conclusions and recommend actionable tasks based off of those conclusions.
- Ability at analyze large comprehensive datasets.
- An analytical mind and inclination for problem-solving.
- Accuracy and high attention to detail.
- Verbal and written communication skills.
Required Certification/Licenses/Training:
- Valid Driver's License.
Additional Information
Pay Range: $68000 to $70000 per year.
Benefits: Veolia’s comprehensive benefits package includes paid time off policies, as well as health, dental and vision insurance. In addition, employees are also entitled to participate in an employer sponsored 401(k) plan, to save for retirement. Pay and benefits for employees represented by a union are outlined in their collective bargaining agreement.
