City of Aurora is in a prime location near the Fox River and is home to shopping and housing.The City of Aurora is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Director of Data and Analytics in the IT Department.
Under the direction of the City’s Chief Information Officer, the Director of Data and Analytics leads and manages the Data and Analytics Division. The Director plans and oversees work related to data collection, data warehousing, data governance, data architecture, and data analyses in the form of studies, architecture, reports and dashboards with a focus on information and data pertinent to the City’s goals and objectives for providing effective and efficient government services and operations.
The duties of this position include but are not limited to: Develop and implement information analysis and reporting systems needed to gather, manage and evaluate city data; Collaborate with other city personnel and external entities to supply and analyze data; Manage multiple resources and projects concurrently; Manage internal and external data analysts; Serve as primary client contact on all phases of analytic projects from problem definition through presentation; Integrate work with other city departments and divisions; Manage and enforce robust data governance policies to ensure data integrity, privacy, and security across all data analytics operations and oversee the City’s open data governance process; Define data architecture and best practices for implementation and maintenance of City’s data ecosystem; Other duties as assigned.
This position requires a bachelor’s degree in computer science, statistics, information technology, data science, data management or a related field; master’s degree preferred. This position also requires at least seven (7) years of experience in data analysis, data engineering, or a related field and at least five (5) years of progressive management experience, including at least three (3) years in a senior management role, preferably within a data engineering, data analytics or related IT team. Must possess a valid driver’s license.
Must successfully pass pre-hire requirements including but not limited to City Council appointment, physical, drug screen, and background check.
This is a full-time, executive position. The salary range is $129,604.80 - $174,491.20 with starting rate dependent on experience and qualifications, but in most cases is no higher than the midpoint of the range.
