At ASI, we are revolutionizing industries with state-of-the-art autonomous robotics solutions. We deliver technologies that enhance safety, productivity, and efficiency. With our core values of Simplicity, Safety, Transparency, Humility, Attention to Detail and Growth guiding everything we do, we're shaping the future of automation in dynamic markets.

As a Data Scientist, you will play a key role in advancing ASI's industry-leading autonomous systems by transforming complex vehicle and operational information into clear, actionable insights. This position supports the development of reliable, high-performing AI and autonomy capabilities by delivering robust data pipelines, high-quality training datasets, and meaningful performance metrics. This role will bridge time-series sensor data with relational models to support high-quality training datasets, robust performance metrics, and deep analysis. The Data Scientist partners closely with AI/ML Engineers, Simulation Specialists, and Principal Architects to ensure ASI's autonomy stack evolves with a rigorous, data-driven foundation.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze structured and unstructured data from sensors, vehicle logs, simulations, and field operations to identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities for system improvement.

  • Leverage operational information and field feedback to generate insights that drive continuous product improvements and inform technology roadmap decisions.

  • Design, implement, and maintain pipelines that move between time-series storage (e.g., InfluxDB) and relational models, enabling advanced analysis and reporting.

  • Help define and build out relational database models to organize and summarize sensor data, supporting ad hoc analysis, ML feature generation, and business reporting.

  • Define, track, and communicate key performance metrics for autonomy systems, partnering with engineering teams to drive alignment and accountability.

  • Collaborate with AI/ML Engineers and Simulation Specialists to identify gaps, prioritize labeling needs, and generate synthetic/simulation data strategies.

  • Develop and test data-driven hypotheses to validate new autonomy concepts and inform system design and R&D decisions.

  • Define and enforce data quality standards, performing validation and cleansing to ensure reliable, consistent inputs for analysis and AI development.

  • Analyze real-world deployment data to support continuous model improvement and closed-loop validation workflows.

  • Collaborate with Business Intelligence (BI) teams to align technology roadmap priorities with application and execution needs, ensuring data models and pipelines support effective reporting and decision-making.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Engineering, or related field.

  • 3-7 years of industry experience in data analysis, data engineering, or applied machine learning, with demonstrated impact on product development.

  • Experience working with time-series databases (e.g., InfluxDB) and relational databases (e.g., Postgres, MySQL, SQL Server), with ability to design and execute complex queries in both contexts.

  • Familiarity with relational theory, including schema design and best practices for structuring analytical models (specifically for driving AI models).

  • Proficiency in Python (e.g., pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn) and SQL, with strong data manipulation and analysis capabilities.

  • Experience designing and maintaining robust pipelines to move, transform, and summarize large-scale sensor data.

  • Experience with data visualization and dashboarding tools such as Power BI is highly desirable.

  • Solid understanding of statistical analysis, experimental design, and machine learning fundamentals.

  • Exposure to autonomy, robotics, automotive or construction vehicle systems, or sensor data is highly desirable.
