We are seeking a tech-savvy, detail-oriented analyst to join our growing actuarial and pricing team. This hybrid/office role is perfect for someone with actuarial or analytical training who is passionate about data, pricing logic, and operational efficiency, without necessarily pursuing formal actuarial credentialing.

Position Overview

As the Actuarial Operations & Rating Analyst, you will bridge the gap between actuarial operations and pricing execution. You’ll contribute to data-driven pricing strategies, support quoting system enhancements, and help ensure our products remain competitive, compliant, and profitable. This is a hands-on analytical role with real business impact.

Key Responsibilities

Actuarial Operations & Data Analysis

• Data Integration & Accuracy: Gather, validate, and manage large datasets to support actuarial and pricing decisions. Leverage spreadsheet tools, SQL, or Python to ensure clean and accurate data flows.
• Model Maintenance: Support the build and refinement of pricing and risk models. Translate business goals and trends into model improvements and version control.
• Performance Monitoring: Track and report key actuarial metrics such as loss ratios, retention, and pricing accuracy. Provide actionable insights to product and leadership teams.
• Operational Efficiency: Identify and implement process improvements to streamline workflows between actuarial, underwriting, and technology teams.

Quoting & Rating Strategy

• Quoting Logic: Develop, document, and maintain logic behind quoting engines. Collaborate with engineering to ensure proper implementation and accuracy.
• Product Profitability Analysis: Analyze financial and underwriting performance to inform pricing decisions and market positioning.
• Competitive Benchmarking: Research and monitor industry trends, competitor pricing, and regulatory updates. Adjust rating methodologies accordingly.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with underwriting, product, and engineering to ensure pricing models are aligned with market needs and operational goals.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Finance, or a related analytical field.
• Experience:
  • 1–3 years in an analytical, actuarial, or data-focused role (insurance or InsureTech preferred).
  • Exposure to quoting or rating systems is a strong plus.
• Technical Skills:
  • Advanced Excel required (formulas, pivot tables, lookups, etc.).
  • Experience with SQL, Python, R, or similar data tools is preferred.
  • Familiarity with actuarial software or cloud-based rating platforms is a plus.
• Soft Skills:
  • Strong analytical mindset with a high attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate complex findings clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Team player who thrives in a fast-paced, iterative environment.
