Job Description

Ares recently created the Fund & Investor Data Group which is responsible for a variety of firmwide datasets including investor financial data and fund static and financial data.  This position will play a critical role in managing and overseeing the firmwide fund static and financial data.  This team works closely with various functions across the firm including, but not limited to, Fund Accounting, Operations, Fund Launch and Onboarding, Legal and Information Technology.  The team ensures the accuracy, consistency, and accessibility of the dataset, supporting the growth and integration of data across the firm.  A candidate who has experience with fund structures, accounting systems, and working with various datasets is preferred.  The primary responsibilities for this role include:

  • Data Governance: Oversee the centralized storage and management of static fund referential data, ensuring data quality and completeness.
  • Data Integration: Partner with Fund Accounting teams and other business functions to standardize data fields and integrate new data sources into the Fund Master database.
  • Data Monitoring: Maintain control dashboards, monitor data integrity, and resolve data issues with fund accounting and fund administrators.
  • Reporting: Work with IT and other functions to develop and enhance reporting outputs and analytical dashboards.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with various stakeholders, including IT, compliance, front office and fund accounting teams, to support data-related inquiries and reporting requirements.
  • Process Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to enhance data governance and reporting efficiency.
  • Dataset SME: Collaborate on various projects as an SME where fund static and financial data is a key input (e.g., front office dashboards, fund onboarding, regulatory reporting)

Qualifications:

  • 4-7 years of relevant professional experience
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high growth environment.
  • Strong verbal and written skills; ability to analyze and summarize complex information both verbally and in writing.
  • High accuracy and detail orientation; confident decision-making skills
  • Experience with fund structures (open and closed ended) and various investor entry points and pass through entities.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to multi-task and manage various deadlines.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Fund accounting experience preferred.
  • CPA and/or accounting post-grad/MBA preferred.
  • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and investor reporting needs preferred.
  • PowerBI or other business intelligence tools experience a plus.

Compensation

The anticipated base salary range for this position is listed below. Total compensation may also include a discretionary performance-based bonus. Note, the range takes into account a broad spectrum of qualifications, including, but not limited to, years of relevant work experience, education, and other relevant qualifications specific to the role.

$125,000 - $150,000
