As a Senior Software Engineer, Data Access & Security Testing (Python/Cyber Focus) at Torch.AI, you will be at the forefront of building software that scales across Torch.AI’s platform capabilities. Your software will be deployed across an array of operational and research & development efforts for mission-critical customer programs and projects.

You’ll work autonomously while driving coordinated, collaborative decisions across cross-functional teams comprised of defense and national security experts, veterans, business leaders, and experienced software engineers. Your code will advance back-end data orchestration and graph-compute capabilities to deliver elegant data and intelligence products. In today’s world, cyber threats evolve at machine speed—from advanced persistent threats to social engineering, massive data breaches, and AI-driven attacks. As part of our Intelligence Fusion team, you'll understand real-world events and attacks, identify vulnerabilities and opportunities, and strengthen critical systems and information networks. From planning and implementation to managing integrated security operations, you’ll work with the best in the field. Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain automated data access pipelines using tools such as Selenium, Playwright, and custom APIs to enable secure and scalable information collection.
- Design and execute security evaluations—including penetration testing, vulnerability research, and adversarial simulation—within clearly defined rules of engagement.
- Apply object-oriented scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell, Bash, Go) to automate reconnaissance, obfuscation, or analytical tasks.
- Collaborate on the identification of novel techniques and emerging threats, leveraging frameworks such as MITRE ATT&CK.
- Support secure operations using obfuscation best practices and identity protection techniques in digital environments.
- Write detailed technical documentation, including assessment reports and recommendations for remediation or operational improvement.
- Stay current with evolving OSINT tools, cloud security trends, and public vulnerability disclosures.
- Participate in internal knowledge sharing, mentoring junior team members, and refining standard operating procedures for cyber testing and secure collection efforts.
What We Value
- B.S. degree in Computer Science, Technology, Engineering, or a relevant field.
- 3–5+ years of experience in penetration testing, adversarial emulation, or cybersecurity operations.
- Proficiency in at least one major scripting language (Python, Bash, PowerShell, or Go).
- Hands-on experience with web automation, API integration, and data scraping frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Playwright).
- Familiarity with OPSEC principles, identity protection, or infrastructure masking strategies.
- Solid knowledge of network protocols, Active Directory attacks, and cloud-based exploitation techniques.
- Exposure to cloud security controls and common defensive monitoring systems (EDR, SIEM).
- Two or more professional certifications from: OSCP, OSEP, GPEN, GWAPT, CRTP, CRTO, GCPN, etc.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and technical documentation skills.
- Industry experience, preferably within the defense industry and/or intelligence community or related sectors, a plus.
- Ability to work collaboratively in interdisciplinary teams.
- Awareness of ethical considerations and responsible AI practices.
- Experience working with foreign language sources or geospatial data in mission or open-source contexts (not required, nice to have).
- Willingness to travel up to 10% as needed for client collaboration or mission support.
- Prior exposure to classified or sensitive data environments (not required, nice to have).
- Demonstrated contributions to the cybersecurity community (e.g., research, bug bounties, OSS).
- Familiarity with managed collection environments or attribution-sensitive platforms (not required, nice to have).
Security Clearance
We are hiring for multiple positions for each role. Some roles require a Secret, Top Secret, or Top Secret/SCI Security Clearance on Day 1. If you do not currently hold a clearance but are interested in this role and believe you are eligible for a clearance, we still encourage you to submit an application.
Work Location
We are hiring for roles at our headquarters in Leawood, KS and remotely in the Arlington, VA region. Candidates in the Arlington, VA region may work remotely while not on customer site. Candidates in the Leawood, KS region may require some limited travel to customer sites (<10% depending on role).

- Torch.AI offers a 401k plan through John Hancock. While the company does not offer employee matching, we offer 3% profit sharing for all employees who elect to participate in the 401k plan. Profit sharing is calculated based on company performance at the end of each calendar year and distributed to 401k accounts at the start of each calendar year.
