About the Role

The primary role of Internal Audit is to assist the Board, the Local Audit Committee and the executive management to protect the assets, reputation and sustainability of the Group. Group Internal Audit (GIA) mission is to provide independent and objective assessment and reporting of the overall effectiveness of risk management, internal controls and governance processes across the Group and appropriately challenge executive management to improve the effectiveness of these processes. GIA also advises business on ways of enhancing the business capacity in managing risk.

We are seeking a strategic and technically skilled Principal, Internal Audit Data Analytics, to join our Internal Audit team. This role will support the integration of advanced analytics and machine learning into audit processes to enhance risk identification, fraud detection, and operational efficiency. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in data science and a passion for driving innovation in audit methodologies into an insurance business setting.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Support planning and execution of the data analytics and continuous auditing strategy, in collaboration with Group and BU architecture team, application teams and data analytics platform team.
  • Support initiatives to automate audit testing and continuous monitoring using AI and machine learning solutions that are highly usable, scalable, secure, and able to be utilized in high volume distributed data.
  • Collaborate with business auditors to embed analytics into audit planning, fieldwork, and reporting.
  • Support non-technical stakeholders in understanding complex technical concepts and performing deep dive analysis.
  • Develop predictive models to identify anomalies, fraud risks, and emerging trends in business data.
  • Build dashboards, visualisation tools to monitor key risk indicators (KRIs) across different business processes and to identify data anomalies.
  • Develop, maintain and manage the departmental data analytics platform
  • Partner with stakeholders within the organisation to identify and execute on analytical needs/gaps.
  • Develop data analytics tools to enable business auditors to perform self-serviced data analytics, ideally in a ā€œno-codeā€ environment
  • Provide training and mentorship to business auditors on data analytics tools and techniques.
  • Facilitate collaboration between business and IT auditors in topics such as data analytics scripting, control automation, data governance.
  • Contribute and advise business functions for the implementation of an effective and efficient system of internal control
  • Contribute to the audit activities initiated by Group Office
  • Manage, lead and execute audits in accordance with the GIA Standards.

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a quantitative field such as Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics. PhD candidates are welcome to apply.
  • At least ten years of professional experience as a Data Scientist, a Data Analyst or a Statistician, preferably in the life insurance company or external consultancy. Working experience in AI and machine learning is considered a bonus.
  • Accountancy and/or audit qualifications is considered a bonus.
  • Strong business acumen
  • Demonstrable experience and knowledge in manipulation of large datasets, and use of data analytics in risk assessment, audit planning and/or execution.
  • A track record of creating impactful presentations to effectively communicate complex data insights to non-technical stakeholders and drive decision-making.
  • Proficiency in databricks, Python, R, SQL, and data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
  • Experience in supporting internal audit function in adoption of data analytics platform and methodology is considered a plus.
  • Ability to learn and adapt quickly to new business domains and technologies.
  • Ability to conceptualize and articulate ideas clearly and concisely.
  • Sound business knowledge in insurance industry
  • Strong analytical/presentation, and people/project management skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet milestones within time, cost and quality constraints.
  • Ability to work independently and be a strong team player with commitment to quality and strong execution
