Comcast NBCUniversal has announced its intent to create a new publicly traded company ('SpinCo') comprised of most of NBCUniversal's cable television networks, including USA Network, CNBC, MSNBC, Oxygen, E!, SYFY and Golf Channel along with complementary digital assets Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, GolfNow, GolfPass, and SportsEngine. The well-capitalized company will have significant scale as a pure-play set of assets anchored by leading news, sports and entertainment content. The spin-off is expected to be completed during 2025.

As the Sr. Director of Data Strategy, you will be responsible for leading our data initiatives and propelling NBCUniversal and its partners into a data-driven future. This crucial role focuses on bringing innovative insights and data solutions to the forefront of NBCUniversal's priorities. You will shape the company’s data ecosystem, ensuring data is accessible, actionable, and aligned with strategic business priorities. This role requires a leader who can bridge data strategy to commercial outcomes, guiding the organization forward with a data-driven product mix.

Working within a matrixed organization, you will manage data assets across multiple NBCU brands and departments. You must be comfortable leading the development of necessary data products as well as influencing other matrix leaders to develop in parallel with your vision. You will collaborate closely with leadership at all levels to identify key opportunities and leverage data to drive business growth, efficiency, and continuous improvement, maintaining a competitive edge in the media landscape.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in data strategy across a complex corporate structure, with expertise in working both strategically and tactically across the data lifecycle. They should be able to join a conversation and relate the impact of data to the objectives of the cross-functional teams. A strong understanding of cross-brand analytics and data sharing is essential, along with the ability to effectively advise on data integration solutions. Expertise in developing and managing business-driven data applications and products is a plus, as well as proficiency in generative AI analysis and use case definition, with the ability to apply AI techniques to real-world business problems.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead cross-functional data initiatives that drive NBCUniversal toward a data-driven future with an emphasis on ensuring a resulting business impact.
  • Translate complex data concepts into clear, actionable business cases with calculated ROI that is comparable across different varieties of initiatives.
  • Democratize high-quality, privacy-compliant data across the organization, empowering Decision Sciences, Marketing, Content & Distribution, and Ad Sales.
  • Partner with engineering and product teams to design scalable data platforms that support enterprise-wide operations.
  • Use data and generative AI to unlock new revenue streams, enhance customer experience, and improve business performance.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to identify strategic opportunities, prioritize initiatives, and align data efforts with business goals.
  • Facilitate organization-wide conversations that connect data capabilities to business impact.
  • Use data and related innovation to maintain a competitive edge in the media landscape.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in data strategy across a complex corporate structure.
  • 10+ years of experience in working strategically and tactically across the data lifecycle,
  • Experience in onboarding, matching, analyzing, and activating data sets between divisions and corporate partners  
  • Familiarity with business development and corporate strategy methodologies.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills for translating complex concepts into clear and concise business cases.
  • Experience working with and navigating a matrixed organization composed of technology horizontals and business-focused verticals

Additional Requirements:

Hybrid: This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week.

This position is eligible for company sponsored benefits, including medical, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and a variety of other discounts and perks. Salary range: $195,000 - $235,000 (bonus and long-term incentive eligible)
