Position Overview

We are seeking a seasoned and proactive Director, Data Quality Lead, to join our growing Data Office team. As the Data Quality Lead, you will drive our data quality initiatives and improve our firm’s data quality competency.  Additionally, you will be responsible for implementing tools, policies and procedures to improve the accuracy, consistency, and reliability of data across the organization.  This role will work closely with various departments to align data quality initiatives with business objectives, requiring an understanding of financial services, our business functions, operations, and terminology.  

 

Key Responsibilities:

Data Quality Strategy

·         Develop and articulate the organization's data quality vision, strategy, and roadmap in alignment with the organization's business goals and objectives.

·         Define data quality objectives, priorities, and key performance indicators (KPIs).

·         Ensure data quality efforts comply with regulatory requirements such as GDPR, CCPA, and industry-specific regulations.

Data Quality Management

·         Establish and implement governance standards, policies and procedures for data quality and validation in concert with our overall data governance initiative.

·         Develop standard methods and reusable solutions across data quality validations, monitoring, metrics gathering and reporting.

·         Collaborate with data owners and stewards to resolve data quality issues and conduct regular data audits and assessments to identify and mitigate data risks.

·         Review data validation plans for new development to ensure a comprehensive data validation solution is designed and implemented.

·         Periodically review validations performed by consumers to find opportunities to move checks upstream to help with overall operational efficiency and data quality.

Role Responsibilities and Expectations

·         Must be able to quickly ramp-up on the domain understanding and business processes, users’ needs and what the data represents meaningfully to contribute to defining validations and KPIs in collaboration with business teams.

·         Become an SME for our data quality platform and subsequently assist and train others.

·         Review data validation plans for new development to ensure comprehensive validation is designed and implemented.

·         Provide guidance to teams migrating to newer applications to ensure accurate and efficient data migration and seeding.

·         Be the champion for accuracy along the entire data lifecycle from ingestion to transformation to consumption and any other steps in between as well as accurate historical data to support analysis and regulatory needs.

 

Leadership and Communication

·         Lead the data quality and management efforts in the organization.

·         Empower data owners to improve quality through education, implementation of data validations and turning data observability outputs into actionable steps.

·         Must be able to communicate with varying audiences (e.g., senior management, IT, business teams, etc.) to convey new concepts and understand the goals and challenges they are working to achieve and overcome.

·         Foster a culture of data-driven decision-making, data stewardship, collaboration and continuous improvement.

·         Identify opportunities to drive efficiency in our data quality efforts and business processes using improved data quality or automation.

 

Qualifications:

Education

·         Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Management, Data Science, or related field.

 

Experience

·         Minimum 5-8 years of experience in data quality, data governance, or related field.

·         Experience with data quality platforms (e.g. Ataccama or Informatica), particularly in the areas of validation, profiling and lineage.

·         Proven track record of developing and implementing data quality strategies

·         Experience in the financial services industry, particularly public and private investments, is highly desirable.

Skills

·         Strong understanding of data governance principles, data quality management, and data security practices.

·         Proficiency in data quality platforms and technologies, particularly in the areas of validation, profiling and lineage.

·         Strong programing skills in languages like Python and SQL are required. Experience in data platforms like Snowflake or Databricks would be a plus.

·         Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

·         Strong leadership and team management skills.

·         Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work effectively with stakeholders (technical and non-technical) at all levels of the organization.

Certifications

·         Relevant certifications such as Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP) or DM-BOK is a plus.

The base salary range for this role is $163,200 to $218,700. In addition to the listed salary range, this position is eligible for an annual performance-based bonus and a comprehensive, competitive benefits package. Actual placement within the stated salary range will be determined based on factors such as skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as internal equity.
