You can be a part of a highly skilled, dynamic and motivated team of AI Researchers, who are laying the groundwork for GE Vernova to succeed in its mission.

As a Research Scientist, you will design, develop, and apply innovative AI technologies, including machine learning, deep learning, generative AI, and foundation models, to tackle complex challenges in the energy sector. Your work will span the entire research spectrum, from fundamental theoretical and empirical investigations to prototyping and solution development. You will have the opportunity to work on diverse projects, including power generation, renewable energy, electric grids, robotics, and manufacturing, in collaboration with GE Vernova's business units and a broad network of Researchers across disciplines and domains. Additionally, you will contribute to cutting-edge research programs with external partners in academia and government, driving the advancement of AI research at GE Vernova and pushing the boundaries of human scientific understanding globally.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Research, conceptualize, and develop AI solutions for hard industrial problems

  • Collaborate with teams of peer Researchers on new and continuing projectsĀ 

  • Demonstrate value of AI through early prototypes and solutions for real-world problems

  • Employ software libraries, tools, and practices to implement efficient, scalable, and reusable solutions

  • Create intellectual property by writing invention disclosures and filing patents

  • Publish research work to scientific journals and conferences

  • Writing and/or supporting grant proposals

Required Qualifications

  • PhD in Computer Science, Electrical/Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or related fields with a focus on Artificial Intelligence or MS degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or related fields with a minimum of 2 years of work experience with a focus on Artificial Intelligence

  • DemonstratedĀ abilityĀ to write Python code

  • Familiarity with AI, ML, and GenAI packages and frameworks like PyTorch, TensorFlow, HuggingFace, and more

  • Deep expertise in one or moreĀ of:Ā Ā  Large Language Models (LLM), Time-series or Multi-Modal Foundation Models, Scientific MachineĀ Learning with Physics, Graph Neural Networks.

  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We will not sponsor individuals at the Masters level for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.

Desired Characteristics

  • PhD focussed on new advancements in Artificial Intelligence

  • Experience in one or moreĀ of:Ā Ā  Multi-Modal Foundation Models with image, tabular data, and text, Integrating Physics in MachineĀ Learning, Graph Neural Networks for Energy Systems, and Integrating LLM with knowledge graphs.

  • Experience in writing grant proposals and participating in the execution of grant-supported research; includes demonstrated successful communication with government agencies such as DoE, ARPA-E, DoD, and DARPA

  • Contribution to public domain codebases and/or significant GitHub portfolio to demonstrate mastery and impact.

The base pay range for this position is $88,600-$147,600. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for a performance bonus. This position will be posted until at least 7/28/2025.
